So it's been years since I built a new pc, I built the FOTM e4400 with an abit i-35e I think is what it was. The system still serves me as a great day to day pc, but I want to pass it down to my son and build me a new fun toy.
I'm very willing to wait for Sandy Bridge, but will and can buy parts before hand if they are a great deal.
1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.
Day to day use, school, wow or rift, some video strreaming, media storage
2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread
$1000 is my limit. I'm going to try and squeeze everything in on this build
3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.
US
4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc.
Fanboy's are typically overated, but I hear that the Sandybridge i5-2500 is the way to go, other than that, I'm open. O O, some things I would like though - 1 SSD, 1 TB HDD, 8 gigs of ram?(is that OverKill?)
5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.
I have a M700 wireless mouse already, lycosa KB and some Bose computer speakers. That is about all I will be carrying over. O wait, so I got Windows 7 Ultimate and Office already, so I won't need those two either.
6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.
Yes, I have read, I have searched, I've seen some random things here and there, but as usual, nothing in one great compact thread.
7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.
I would like to OC, if the MoBo has simple OC settings, that would be godsent, otherwise I will be seeking someone in the San Antonio area after I build it to help me OC correctly.
8. What resolution YOU plan on gaming with.
1920-1080p is what I want to look/game on. I have a 21 inch dell now, but would love to find a 24 inch monitor in my budget.
9. WHEN do you plan to build it?
In the next couple months, Mid April at the latest I think.
10. Don't ask for a build configuration critique or rating if you are thin skinned.
I'm very frail, you know, like the old guy on family guy.
