It does to the indoctrinated, non free thinking extremists on both sides. Expect it to get worse as more and more choose to join the extremes rather than work in the middle.

The greatness of our country was built in the middle on compromise, neither of the extremes seem willing to do that anymore. Many have forgotten that, many more will until things stretch to their breaking point and blood is spilled. Once that happens there should, assuming the shock is enough to bring people back to reality, be an "oh my God what have we done?" moment that returns people to rational thinking and a shunning of both extremes.

In general, Wisconsin is actually fairly conservative, except for the concentrations of liberals in Madison and Milwaukee. Just like many other states, political affiliation tends to fall into rural versus urban.
