If only anyone cared about an irrelevant dying magazine that no one reads.....

They have subscriptions of over 2 million still. That's pretty relevant.

Also, these people deserve EVERY award and accolade given to them. I don't care if it's from God themselves or from the local middle-school newspaper. The size of the party honoring them is irrelevant. They have more dignity, dedication, loyalty, empathy and heart in their pinky than many *ahem* some people.

Imagine going through life determining the quality of something by ratings. How empty has your world become.

I feel the puke factory gurglin' in my innards.

Awwww...aren't you cute? All stupid and all. Still got your head up Trump's butt? Could be a reason you're in the shape you're in. Still having to caress Trump's balls to get him to open his mouth so you can breathe?

Yup, he did such a great job on Coronavirus. Can you imagine how bad things could have gotten if Fauci wasn't there to tell everyone not to wear masks in March?
Fauci did what he could under difficult circumstances. Can we at least agree that Time has apparently lowered the threshold to recognize Biden for not fumbling the ball at the goal line.

yes, apparently scientists aren't allowed to give advice as scientists do--with the best knowledge on hand at the time, and the expectation that advice can and absolutely will be revised, with increased, better knowledge.

the fuck is wrong with you?

He went on 60 minutes and said there was no reason for people to be walking around with masks. What "best knowledge on hand at the time" was that based on? Keep venerating people that failed miserably at their jobs.

You have to remember that early in the pandemic they didn’t want people panic buying PPE at a time when there was a shortage and first responders and medical personnel desperately needed it. I am sure Fauci made mistakes, and deserves scrutiny for them, but I also don’t envy his situation.

Much the same here. I heard multiple explanations from 'public health experts' as to why the public should not bother with masks, before they changed their mind. I think I still have a BBC podcast where their medical expert explains at length why it's a bad idea to use a mask. And apparently that was what was the real reasoning behind it.

Though it would have been better, I think, for the experts to be honest with the public about what the concern was.

Also, I think that part of the issue is that the people whose job it is to tell the general public about such topics, are not the same people who are actually at the forefront of research into health issues. There are experts in a topic, and there are experts in telling the public about a topic, and those are not the same people.

For the same reason that health care workers will be the first in line to receive that vaccine. They are on the front line.

The distribution of vaccine can be controlled, but the panic hoarding of PPE could not. And even then it was rampant.

I am a very vunerable individual, age, COPD, cancer history, and likely the wrong blood type. I didn't need a N95 mask in March, but health care and front line first responders did. I don't need to be vaccinated Monday, but health care workers do. I can wait, they can't.

Given that every POTUS has been given the distinction in the year they won office since 2000, and most did prior to that, I'd say the threshold is exactly where it's always been.

Seems like a poor precedent and renders the distinction a participation trophy, in a year where health care workers worldwide have been real life superheroes.

I tend to agree, but then I've never put much stock in it anyway.

Probably the reason has to do with the POTUS-elect having greater impact than any one person in the healthcare field, even if collectively they deserve to be honored more than him.
