Time Out during network Logon (domain)

Essentially what is happening is that when a laptop we have is NOT connected to the network (but is on a domain), the machine take 2 minutes to attempt to logon before finally timing out, it then boots and runs fine. When the machine is on the network, it works as supposed to.

The machine worked fine for several months now, but suddenly this started happening.

Anyone have any ideas on how to make it boot faster than 2 minutes?

maybe an issue with cached logins?

When it is not connected to the domain, are you logging on with a domain account or logging on locally?

It's an Averatec 3200 series

is it plugged into the network (but not the domain?) when this happens? Do you have static DNS setup, or is it obtained via DHCP?

it is NOT plugged in when this is happening. When it is plugged in, everything works as normal. And we are using DHCP.

The reason I would like it to work normally when not plugged in is, my boss uses this machine to do presentations while on the road. Often times he is not plugged into a network. Using a local logon and a network one is out of the question, because that would be too confusing.

Like I said before, it worked like a charm for the last 6 months.

Does it have built-in wireless?

If so, it could be the wireless trying to connect to a newly installed wireless network in your area.

it does have built in wireless, but it can be disabled with a button. And that didn't fix it. I also tried disabling the wireless in windows with no luck.
