Compact snow & ice has arrived, finally time to throw the new Nokian Extremes on my Troll...

They actually hold up to many seasons of use, since the studs are carbide-tipped and with a GVW of around 220 pounds they're tough to wear out. Still got to be alert to surface irregularities and ridges, they're not endowed with miraculous powars

Those look like sweet tires. I have ridden in the snow, but never with studded tires. No disc brakes?

No disc brakes on that one, it's the workhorse grocery-getter. The XC race bike has discs, though, 160/140 Avid X-0 hydraulic. I was running this one until I cracked the frame...
