I'm from Australia, but I would like to offer my understanding and support for America undergoing a transition to a Monarchy.

Its not that bad.

A little extra pomp and ceremony here and there. A few more entries in the gossip mags. A slightly thicker skin on your forehead as you salute your betters. And a love of Corgi's ofcause.

They just played Biden's response on Australian TV. Sleepy Joe vs Emperor Trump... easy choice in the end. Trump might see it as a win now, but I think it will bite him at the election.
Plus assassinations don't have quite the same oomph if the guy only serves 4-8, so we've got that to consider.

The majority’s claim that the founders wanted a vigorous, unrestrained executive are 100% horseshit. The founders debated whether or not to shoot the President right away or wait until he did something odious.
Washington himself said no man is above the law. This court flips more than gymnasts at the Olympics

The way they wrote it raises a lot of questions. Say a President visits a disaster site, obviously an official duty but while there he has a piece of gum and throws the wrapper on the ground. Can he be fined for littering? Having gum and littering aren't official acts but was done while on a official tour.
Or say he visits a foreign country for the G7 meeting and while there find underage girls who he brings back on Air Force One and then transfers to a friend's island. Can he be charged for human trafficking?

This decision should end any discussion about the current majority being originalists or textualists. The creators of the Constitution could have put immunity for the president in the constitution and they very clearly did not. The whole fucking point was to not create an unaccountable despot.

As I said all the Hyperbolic bull shit being spewed is amazing.

We both know that is an illegal order.
We both know attempting a coup is illegal but you and other conservatives claim we can't know until it is adjudicated. You stating "we know that is an illegal order" is meaningless. It's your opinion that it is an illegal order, just like you claim it's our opinion that Trump attempted a coup.

I think that its a slippery slope, for it the President is immune, then surely his 'instruments' aka his goons are immune as well?
Pardoning is an official act so just have goons murder all political rivals ad than pardon them. All done. Hell, generals can’t refuse any war crime order by the potus because the potus’s intent can’t be questioned and is immune

Most if not all the generals said they’d ignore an illegal order from the orange monkey. But in an revenge tour and project 2025, who knows how many military officials he’ll go through to find his butt kissers.

But wonder if current generals would be willing to take the bullet to help Biden break democracy to save it

The generals can’t ignore an illegal order now as there are none if it is an official act. He will kill any general who defies him as an official act. America is now an absolute Monarchy

Yep, and by definition, every order from the Commander in Chief to the military is an official act. Which can now never be illegal nor even questioned for legality nor motive.

I wouldn't be surprised if someone takes one for the team before it even gets that far. By that I mean the odds of Orange Julius meeting a Brutus and Friends is not zero.

"...against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Eski called this our 1939. That's not hyperbole, sadly.

I can see some not wanting to let our existence as a free country ride on a single election, one that magats and foreign powers will be trying like hell to fuck up. Taking Trump out of the picture saves the country.

I guess we can stop paying for the White House office of legal counsel. No need for it anymore, anything the Pres does is a-ok.

Fiscal conservatism for the win!
And just thinking that a classified document is unclassified makes it so, if you are president.

What really sucks about this decision is that Biden will not take advantage of this golden opportunity to right some egregious wrongs perpetrated by the Republicans yet Trump will absolutely exploit it to seize power, enrich himself and his children, launch his revenge and retribution campaign on every single person who proved he is the idiotic moron that the GOP faithful refuse to acknowledge and literally lord over the nation as a Kim Jong Un wanna be. I'm sure he's got something special saved up for his niece Mary.

And now he wants to use this ruling to overturn his 34 felony convictions. Is falsifying business records an official act? Let's consult the SCOTUS tea leaves!
He wasn't POTUS when he falsified those records, so no immunity via this "ruling."

Edit:

If Biden loses the election, I don’t see a reason not to use the same powers Trump will inevitably gain in the lame duck.

Commander and Chief is a core constitutional duty, 100% immunity, period.

How does that work. I'm going to burn the house down preemptively before you do it? That saves the house?
Imagine Julius Caesar crossing the Rubicon today.
This has happened. The proper response is a JDAM.
If there is to be no more law, then there shall be force.

Either you sit back and let your enemy use it. Or you step up and do something. We have 6 months for the President to step up.
