Time to Upgrade

Alrighty, it is finally time to upgrade my aging computer. I will be keeping a few parts that I currently have.

1. What YOUR PC will be used for. That means what types of tasks you'll be performing.

Gaming, and some web surfing.

2. What YOUR budget is. A price range is acceptable as long as it's not more than a 20% spread

Price range is about $700 USD ± $150.

3. What country YOU will be buying YOUR parts from.

USA

4. IF YOU have a brand preference. That means, are you an Intel-Fanboy, AMD-Fanboy, ATI-Fanboy, nVidia-Fanboy, Seagate-Fanboy, WD-Fanboy, etc, etc, etc, you get the picture.

nVidia and definitely Intel nowadays.

5. If YOU intend on using any of YOUR current parts, and if so, what those parts are.

Antec SuperLanboy Case
Sound Blaster XtremeGamer Soundcard
Monitor
Speakers
Mouse/Keyboard
Fortron 550W PSU
Seagate 320GB HDD
DVD-RW

6. IF YOU have searched and/or read similar threads.

Done lots of homework here, just want some confirmation on a build.

7. IF YOU plan on overclocking or run the system at default speeds.

Definitely going to be OCing.


I've done lots of homework and picked out these parts here.

Intel Core 2 Duo e8400...........$209

G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800........$95

EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB.......$240

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L......$100

Tuniq Tower 120........$45

Total: $689

Just a few questions.

1. Will that Tuniq tower fit in my SuperLanboy case?
2. Would you go with the Abit IP35 Pro over the Gigabit mobo?

Edit: I already have Vista 64-bit so I don't need an OS.

I'm happy with my P35-DS3L, but I have no personal experience with Abit boards. If you want to compare boards of roughly the same features and price, the Abit IP35-Pro is the counterpart to the GA-P35-DS3P. Abit's lower end board which competes with the DS3L is the IP35-E.

Any of those motherboards is a good choice. It doesn't sound like you would make use of the extra features, so if I were you I'd go with the IP35-E or P35-DS3L. Your setup looks good to go!

The abit-pro is going for 120$ if I'm not mistaken. Other components look good, there's cheaper ram though: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16820145184 for example. Don't know to much about ram, but the corsair looks good to me, and is cheaper. The tuniq should fit, but don't qoute me on that, ask on the cases forum to be 100% sure. And, the e8400 can be had cheaper too, for 183$, but I don't know where lol, but definately shop around.

Oh yeah, I would definitely shop around for better prices, but I just wanted to throw a general price so I could get an estimate of what I'd be paying.
