Time to upgrade

Need some suggestions on hardware cause I've been out of the loop for awhile now.

I'm still runing an AXP 2600+ w/ASUS A7N8X Deluxe.

I'm looking to build my system off of an Intel Pentium 4 650 3.4GHz processor. Thinking about the ASUS P5GD2 Deluxe motherboard and a 1GB of memory, though not sure on the type.

What do you guys think? What would you suggest?

ok......first of all. I wanna know what kind of system your going to have...(workstation, pc gamin', media?). And how much your going to spend. As of now, AMD practically rocks this world.

and don't go with a p4 unless you already own one.

i agree. gaming=AMD
...though intel does have that DDR2 ram working for them...

Go into the bios, set the FSB to 400Mhz. You now have an AXP 3200+. Enjoy.

My rig is primarily used for as a workstation and for media nowadays, but on occassion I will do some gaming.

I'm just upgrading the mobo, cpu, and memory. Everything else is cool. Plan to keep it under $1000 witch should be plenty.

I've been running AMD based systems for the past 5 years, wanted to go with Intel this time. I don't know. Like I said, I've been out of the loop for a long time and my needs arent what they used to be. I want a rock solid motherboard. I have no desire to O/C. The P5GD2 Deluxe grabbed my attention because of the onboard ATA/133 raid. I have a 500G RAID (ATA/133) and I don't care for the RocketRAID133 card I'm running now.
