Time Warner Comcast Merger

Some are saying this will give NBC, Time Warner and Comcast control over 80 % of the Media in the USA.

You are mixing up mergers.

The ComcastNBC and Timer Warner Cable merger would NOT create a media monopoly. It would create an internet monoploy. Time Warner Cable is NOT a media company, it was spun off of Time Warner.

The Fox Time Warner(media) merger would have created the worlds largest media empire that would have been much akin to your OP. The combined company would have owned something like 60% of all films, the majority of newspapers, the majority of news channels, and have the largest number of cable channels. Thankfully good ole Rupert stop pursuing, likely because there is no way in hell it would have ever been approved.

Not on the consumer side, but on the business to business side, it would create a monopoly for the TV market, in that TW/Comcast would be able to largely control the prices media companies would get for their channels.
