Timeshift Demo for Windows

I played 2 demos in the past 2 days; one of which was Call of Duty 4 and another was Timeshift. The screenshots of Timeshift circulating around the net awhile ago looked impressive and the game itself certainly was as good as it looked.

The ability to manipulate time is really fun and player can either let your suit decide which time manipulation (pause, rewind and fast forward) is best for the given situation or player can manually choose one. Last time I heard was that it is fully automatic on Xbox 360 (one button control). The weapons in the demo was fairly standard (M4 like carbine, auto shotgun and a explosive crossbow).

There are some parts of environments are destructible but nothing dramatic as seen in Fracture (upcoming xbox 360 title). There are also a few tricks player can perform while roaming in frozen-time environment; for example, disarming enemies by stripping off their weapons.

The graphic is very very good. The rain effect is simply the best I've seen sofar. The character modeling isn't the best in the world, but the overall rendering ability is perhaps, got a GoW look/feel to it.

The atmosphere felt somewhat like, Half Life 2. The main character himself looked as if it was taken straight out of Crysis. The control (mainly mouse) is a little sluggish though; hopefully this will get fixed before going gold.

I downloaded it last night, along with COD4 and the new FEAR expansion. Won't get to try them until tomorrow though FTL.

Yeah it's been raining demo's as of late, have not had the time to play Timeshift, currently installing CoD4, which has priority But I do look forward to playing Timeshift, they've come a long way since their original demo.

Yeesh, how long has it been now since the first timeshift demo? 2 years? Amazing that the publisher actually looked at a game that close to being finished and decided it isn't good enough and gave the developer the time and resources to more or less tear the whole game apart and redo it.

I'll download the demo later to see if it was worth the effort. The first demo was pretty 'meh'.

Timeshift looked fantastic and it ran great. The game play was unique and more fun than COD4 I just deleted out of my hard drive. Looks good as Unreal 3 engine if not better. WOW...

Hmz yeah I liked the game a fair bit. It looked good, but I think CoD4 looked better. As for the gameplay, messing with time is pretty fun, but I wish you could do it for just a wee bit longer, or at least rewind for a bit longer.

I thought COD4 looked horrible which had graphics quality of quake 3. Game play was something we've done again and again. Timeshift was refreshing.

Now I'm off to download Fearxp2

I played the Timeshift demo on the 360 and it wasn't too bad. I had your typical aiming issues on the 360 but it felt kind of like Max Payne or Stranglehold (except no fancy table sliding ). I don't know if it was a lot of fun or not though... it wasn't horrible but it didn't feel like anything I haven't seen before.

Downloaded CoD4 but I haven't played it yet.

Umm.. You've got some serious computer issues if you think COD4 looks like Quake 3. The graphics are really quite good.

I'm not the only who admits COD4 looks like crap. I have everything maxed out it still looks ugly.

Well, I played both demos, and they might as well be different games. The newer one is far far better than the old one. As for COD4's graphics, they really are good, there are a few annoying things(blood looks like crap, shiny edges on guys looks stupid), but overall they look great. Some game critics were claiming it looks better than crysis, but that really isn't true at all, I've played both and crysis looks far better maxed out.

Timeshift is weak. It feels like a poor copy of HL2 which came out 3 years ago and looked much better than this. They even ripped off the rolling PA announcement to the citizens, then took the FEAR slow-mo and amped that up a stupid amount for slow, stop and backwards. How is this game ever going to be a challenge? Everything looks squashed down and the textures/models are poor. The whole thing reeks of small budget and no ideas.

I also fail to understand why every game doesn't change resolution as quickly as Quake Wars. You set the res, it changes immediately, not 10-15 seconds later after doing ah heck all like TimeShift or any game on the Source engine.

I agree the models don't look that great but the textures are great.

It still seems fun to me. I wanted more while COD4 I was like when is going to get better?

Tried the demo - pretty interesting to be able to change events has they happen by stopping, reversing, forwarding time - however, if you take your time, you could pretty much just "stop time" your way through the entire game. Nothing else really new about the game -so probably just pick it up when it hits the bargain bin...

TimeShift is good. Easily just as much fun as CoD4.

Ummm no, because your suit runs out of energy way too fast for that, so it's impossible just 'stop through' the game AFAICT - ergo I disagree and I also liked that you cannot just save anywhere.

Demo was short but good; not exceptional but good (don't play it on easy, of course); it could be easily the surprise game of this Christmas... let's hope people won't diss it just because Crysis will be out two weeks later - it seems to me a different game with some good-ol' Requiem-styled 'bullet time' fun (no, not Max Payne was the first but the very-very good Requiem)!

This is another great game IMO. It's a blatant rip off of just about every shooter out there. But at least it takes the good stuff. It's got the dark, dreary, city environment of Deus Ex 1, it's got the Slow Mo (albeit modified) of FEAR, it's even got the resistance against "the man/government" of HL2, complete with the guy on a large TV screen on every corner of the city, lol. I had alot of fun with the demo. My prediction however, is that this game will fall through the cracks with the combination of so many good solid shooters coming out there and Crysis being released shortly thereafter. And this demo was much better than the first. Neat concept with the timeshifting too.
