If only I could find that one news segment that did an extensive review on huper optik. I don't know what the difference is compared with metallic but I have wanted this shiz for a long time after seeing that. From the inside it looks like you have no tint on at all.

Basically, I'm not going to put something relatively expensive / time-consuming on (even at $200) only to have it interfere with instruments and pay even more to get it fixed.

That would be worth it for me...

Ceramic tints are well worth it.....and yes they are a lot more expensive than the other kinds of tint tech out there.

I have Huper Optik on one of my SUV's but I also have other ceramic tint on other vehicles. I have FormulaOne Pinnacle and also have Llumar ceramic on another and I've been happy with all 3 brands.

I have to say that darker shade at the back is fine on an SUV but would look weird on a car/sedan. It looks better for a car to have all the shade of the same grade.

I was speaking with Tom the owner there actually and he was the one who quoted me the $475 (up from $450 since the X5 has extra segmented windows in the rears)... do you know Tom too? Hook ups would be great.

FYI.. Most factory glass itself is already at 70% Visible Light Transmission. Some state law says 70% VLT @ the front meaning they don't want you to put anything on front windows at all. However, you can probably put 35% all around and the cops wouldn't do anything unless you get a speeding ticket or something and he decides to add on a "fix it" ticket to your traffic violation if he's in a bad mood. Most cops wouldn't waste their time w/ "fix it" tickets unless it's really dark because the fine is only like $10 when you pull it off.. depending on state of course.

<=== Used to tint windows professionally before working in IT.

^ thanks for that info. I was wondering about the factory tint % on it already because it is not completely clear.

Would 50% appear 70% to the naked eye (or somewhat close so they won't care)? I want some form of film in the front since part of the purpose is to deflect heat/rays, etc all around.

If you put a window w/ 50% tint next to a window with no film, you'd probably notice the difference. Just keep in mind that you're still taking a risk but 50% is pretty light.. I'd imagine the cops wouldn't notice unless he puts his VLT test kit up against your windows.

I have 35% on all but Windshield in Ohio.
I have been pulled over numerous times for other reasons, and they have never mentioned it.

I would think having 50 / 70 next to each other would be noticeable, but it would still look good.
