Why do tires have rubber "hairs" sticking out from their sides? Look at a tire and you'll notice a lot of them. Does anyone have any idea what they're there for?
The mold the tires are made in have small holes to let air out as the rubber is injected. As the mold fills, the rubber fills the holes, leaving the "hairs." Mystery solved.
