That's what I did hear and have mixed feelings. Understand that nVidia desires to keep the 6 gigs for Titan differentiation and its added default performance but it's kinda odd seeing double the ram offerings for lower class sku's and yet to desire a 6 gig 780 -- one is forced to buy Titan.

I bet that a big part of this is that the RAM is part of the TDP, and getting double ram, doubles the RAM's TDP.

Since the TDP headroom on 780 is the only thing that allows it to catch up to Titan, 6 gig versions being slower than 3 gig versions would probably rub people the wrong way.

Here's an Estimate.

On my 7970, 3gB 6000 MT/s GDDR5 @ 1.6v at full load is at 10A.
Thats 16W of TDP used up just by 3 gB of GDDR5. Double that and its 32W of TDP used up by just 6 gB of GDDR5

You're responding to a member you ignored. If there was ever any evidence you're an impulsive person and make bad decisions on your own accord, this is it.

You make a post in a public forum to criticize for your own mistake, others are free to criticize you. You aren't the victim, you're the sucker.

Really a name calling, I won't even respond, but a mod should. You can't get any lower then that.

ps. NV fans are just unbelievable, instead of sticking to the topic they make ad hominem attacks or even lower then that.

404: Name calling not found.

yeah, you're the sucker isn't a name calling. It's a cordial response to the question I asked. 10 pages and people still couldn't get that this topic wasn't about me. Video Cards and Graphics sub-forum is on its way to be just like off-topic. Good that we still have intelligent people that have something to say in the CPU forum, I'll probably just stick to that sub-forum.

Ok, I'll answer your question.

If I had purchased a Titan a month before the release of the GTX 780, I would feel like a sucker.

And if you bought two months before you wouldn't? There wasn't even three months difference between the retail availability of those cards.

Ok, let me rephrase.

If I had spent $1000 on a video card, I would feel like a sucker. No matter how soon the next card came out, no matter how close they are in performance. I would feel like a sucker for spending $1000 on a video card.

But we all have different priorities.

I'm going with what others have said, new tech is always around the corner. Same thing happens in the smartphone scene. It is what it is, and while you have every right to complain about it, don't expect sympathy from people here. Many would love to have the disposable income to even afford a Titan.

It sounds like you have learned from buying used/gray market/whatever reason you can't return/exchange, and that's really all you can take away from this. For now, I would say enjoy your beastly card and get back to the reason you bought the card - to play games.

"you aren't the victim, you're the sucker" is not name calling. If it was, calling you the victim would also be name calling, but I have a feeling you wouldn't have a problem with that. You got suckered by nVidia, i.e. you're the sucker. It's not name calling, it's reality.

And don't look now, but you responded. Like I said, you're an impulsive person, whats worse, you don't seem to have any sort of control over your impulses. You knew $1000 was a ripoff, you couldn't resist to buy it. You ignore a forum member, but you can't help but respond to an ignored post. You respond by telling me you aren't going to respond. Get a grip of yourself.

The thing is that many people have already made perfectly reasoned responses, it's just that Lepton refuses to acknowledge any of these points. He blames Nvidia for his personal buying decision. If he isn't prepared to listen to the reasoned arguments it is inevitable that this 'debate' will only go rapidly downhill.

I think the show is pretty much over. Lepton are you satisfied with your thread's progress at this point? If you have gotten your answers maybe you should ask a mod to retire it. maybe start a new one with the original question phrased differently or something?

Just stop with that ad hominem BS and I'm not the victim so I wouldn't like that either.
I'm not an impulsive person it's not like I spent 250k$ on a Car or something like that, it's just 1K, it's essentially nothing and I didn't address what BS you wrote in your post, that others are free to criticize me and make an off-topic, I got an infraction for Thread Crapping by 1 post that wasn't about the topic. People are jealous creatures, today I just found a big scratch on my brand new car. Someone didn't like that I have a new and expensive car and he doesn't so he decided to make a scratch and people on this forum behave very similarly to this "person". It's like someone makes a thread about something and all he sees is a bunch of ad hominem attacks, even though the topic wasn't about that specific person. I'm done discussing with you it's pointless. I wanted others to share their opinion on the subject, not an analysis of my purchase and my personality(sic) This forum got terrible.

No I'm not satisfied by how people behave on this forum and there's no moderation. Few people actually stuck to the topic, most of the people here actually behaved a lot like that someone who scratched my car.

I don't blame them as was apparent from my opening post! They did what they could to maximize profits and that's fine, all I said is that they lost a lot of reputation in my eyes by doing that and that's it.

ps. If anything this thread is a great example that I'm not an impulsive person, no one ever called me that outside this topic. I was polite to all the people who made ad hominem posts instead of sticking to the topic, I was called a noob because my Titan doesn't overclock well and I still remained polite. The idea that buying a graphics card on an impulse makes you an impulsive person is ridiculous. Attacking other people because they offended you makes you an impulsive person or buying a house for 500k$ or a car for 250k$. For the record I don't lament over that 350$ I spend more on one wheel for my car but it doesn't mean that I should be happy by how NV handled this generation. I said that 1250$ is a lot of money in my country, people got the wrong idea that's also a lot of money for me, it's not.

If 1k is nothing to you, why are you upset?

Why is it so important to you that you find other people who are also upset?

It's not nothing but it's not a lot of money either and I didn't look for other people who would share my point of view I wanted to know how others feel about that. If people just could read and actually understand what they read...What's funny for most people in here English is their native language and their reading comprehension still leaves a lot to be desired. English is my third language.

On the other hand if you have bought a Titan, then you obviously don't have any financial problems, and can scuff off the price difference.

You sure about that?

I'm going to try it, it costs nothing, but people rarely look for such expensive products on craig's list or an equivalent site. It seems I'm the only one irked by the Titan's price getting so ridiculous in comparison to the other products from the same manufacturer that fast. Probably because I live in a way poorer country then most Titan owners here and to boot Titan was an impulse buy for me when I wasn't exactly sober and I got very mad at complications with my Quad Fire set-up in FarCry3. I actually spent 1250$ without getting better performance, one of the dumbest things I've ever done.

So according to your most recent claims

1) You're not impulsive
2) You're not the victim
3) You're not a sucker
4) $1000 is nothing

If all the above were true, you'd be perfectly happy with your purchase. So either you're perfectly happy with your purchase and you're trolling, or AT LEAST one or more of the above claims is BS.

Thread is full of trolls at this point, 90% of posts not from Titan owners.. I saw a few early on and it seemed like a couple are miffed, a couple are just fine and a few others are in between.

But now it's just troll NDF.

Does it occur to you that I might not like to waste money? That's not to say I don't buy some things that won't make a dent in my budget on an impulse. Even if NV didn't release 780 I wouldn't be perfectly happy with my purchase because my card RATTLES.

Ahh, you're in luck, you can RMA the card for the rattling.

What does having purchased a Titan or not have to do with the buyers remorse from an uneducated purchase?

"I didn't know nVidia would release a comparable product"

Really? This is true with every generation of video cards, going back as far as I can remember.

"nVidia deceived me into believing they were never going to refresh"

Despite having never released a statement to that effect. Despite never once indicating that they were not going with a typical refresh cycle. Despite GK104 not being cut at all. Despite no need for GK114. Despite all that, he blames nVidia, on what grounds?

"nVidia didn't tell me they were going to release more products"

This goes back to the previous complaint, only nVidia never tells anyone what they're doing. There is virtually never a single statement from nVidia about upcoming GPU products. Every GPU they release is a rumor until launch day, this was true with Titan, GTX 780, GTX 680, and every other card they've released in at least that last five years.

If this is a troll thread it's because it serves no other purpose.

Probably the best thing that could happen is that they would send me another Titan, that's still worth it, I find the rattle annoying and my Titan practically doesn't OC at all or they would say that's normal and it's not anything that could damage the card and send my card back, knowing NV that would probably be what they would have done, that would be a "nice" way to treat their premium customers. Is there any chance at all that I would get my money back? Because I don't think so. But to use RMA in my case NV would have to directly accept RMA requests from consumers like Seagate does, that's because I bought my Titan from a crook, and there were hardly any sings that was a scam, it's not like it was priced below MSRP+VAT. If that wasn't enough before I bought my Titan I bought 2x7970GHz but they had such a terrible coil whine that everybody in the house heard when I launched a game. Fortunately it was an honest seller and I could return those cards. I have an uncanny luck for buying cards that are complete duds.
