Yeah its abit too much. Given how underclocked maxwell parts are including the Titan X..
I think we will see geforce variants with 6GB (or 5+1GB? ), 3rd party cooling and higher clocks (10~20% headroom) once R300 series hits the scene.
I think this is a near certainty so long as the 390X is not disappointing performance wise. If it equals, and hopefully bests, the Titan X - they will have to stick with a full GM200 to be competitive.
The 12GB VRAM is worthless, 6GB is ample. If there were a Titan X out right now with 6GB on a custom PCB such as an EVGA Classified type board, I would drop the $1000 for it. Titan X as it is falls short of the mark in making the same sort of splash the first Titan did.
I think the castrated DP is putting off potential buyers because resale on this card is going to be awful. In 3 months it will be probably be worth $500 on the resale market, potentially less, depending on 390X performance.
Id be interested to know just how many people who buy $999 item(s) are concerned with the resale value! Id be one of them though
You had someone else open the package? That's one of the best parts of buying a new videocard.

I did it for you guys !!!
That is ridiculous. What a joke!!
'12gb is so stupid, 12gb is worthless, this card is terrible cause it gots 12gb.
12gb is just worthless but.... but...6gb........ I would buy it for 1000$ if it was only 6gb on an EVGA classified board'
You know darn well how it would be spun had it came out with only 6gb. Especially now considering the 8gb 390x rumors.
I have never in my life seen anything like this. Trying to spin extra VRAM as some kind of negative. Its baffling.......
Well maybe not. There is always gonna be something. Good look trying to push that one though. There is no one gonna buy into it, although I expect it to be repeated on forums across the world. But no one is gonna see 12gb as a drawback.
No matter how much you try to spin 12gb as a negative, its never gonna become one. We have already seen games an settings run the VRAM usage up to 6gb. This was on launch day. That's what makes your statement so hilarious.
No one will believe hat having more ram is bad. Sorry.
It may not give a major real word advantage at this point but good luck on spinning this as some kind of drawback.

Thank you for the sacrifice, it must have been difficult. LOL
Hopefully, you'll feel a big difference from 980 to Titan. However, you may need to upgrade the monitor (damn you Nvidia, you spin an expensive web) to get the real benefit out of a Titan X. People maybe disappointed with around 30% upgrade over 980, but in my experience that is the realm of noticeable performance difference especially if min FPS is improved as well. I'd like to see how the 12GB helps with games that cache alot of textures (big world games like GTA, Shadow of Mordor)
I ordered two from nVidia's site. It said that I would get an order confirmation shortly. Still haven't received it. How long did it take others to receive their order confirmation?

2!!??!?!?!?!?
You need your usual 4 - you know there are ways around the limit!!!!
Picked one up from Micro Center about 30 minutes ago. They just got it in today. Going to check out another Micro Center in Columbus. They should have one there.
Given that there are going to be tons of 200 gpu cores made and nvidia won't be able to use them other than a 980 Ti 6GB the titan is basically going to be redundant as soon as AMD launches the 390x. Nvidia will respond with a cheaper 200 Based card
Titan is nvidia cashing in on its fans for a period of 3 months then you will all be left with a £900 card with 12gb of useless vram....
I really don't see this other than a epeen card....
I'd buy one tomorrow but I just know a Ti isn't far away and then I'll regret it as I'd rather Sli the Ti card and Sli the titan is stupid money.

No one really knows if this titan is 100% unlocked And uses the total gpu. I don't remember reading the original titan was a defective gpu with parts disabled until the 780 Ti launched with a fully enabled chip.
Took them quite a while to send me it.
