The 33% aligns with that stats. 50% more ROP, cores, texture units, but lower clock than the GTX 980. As we know though, OC potential is still up in the air.

Great. Now AMD can clock 390X @ 950 Mhz and match it both power and perf. So idiots can't complain about the 300W. But they won't do that.

I was expecting them to be more than $1000. Big question for me is will there be a 6GB version with the same chip or will every other card using GM200 be cut down ?

Real puzzler to put 12GB on a gaming card, unless the thought was that 12GB encourages more epeen, it's basically worthless. 6GB is more than enough. Either way I can wait a month or two, the card does not inspire a day one jump on it purchase. Gives AMD time to produce something decent if they have it and to see what shakes out with more GM200.

After owning Titans I'd much rather be able to get a card with a custom PCB and real overclocking like an EVGA classified that uses the same chip. My 780 classified cards were faster than my Titans were after overclocking. This being the whole chip though makes me think we'll see first a cut down GM200 in Geforce and then a full GM200 with 6GB later, could wind up being 6 months from now.

It's a good point that these won't resell well without that DP though. I sold my Titans for $850 each, doubt I could resell these for more than $300 by the time I'd be done with them.

Yeesh. As much as it's great to see the launch of a new high-end graphics card, that $999 price tag is certainly not easy to swallow. We need competition on the high end to bring the price down! Help us AMD 390X, you're our only hope!

$999 is actually the lowest we could had hoped. No DP perf is a blow in the gut though.

Well, at least this time it puts the "but it's not marketed towards gamers" excuse to rest. This is a straight up single GPU $1,000 video gaming card.

Looks like UE4 is being positioned as being able to use more memory, as seen in their tech demo.

actually this launch is good for Gk110 Titan owners.... It will keep the resale value up for those wanting the fp64 dual precision performance

That is something. If UE4 takes off like UE3 did in proliferation, there will be value on single GPU performance, as UE4 will not support multi-gpu.

I was debating a Titan X last night and going single card because I'm hardly using multigpu in games I play most; BF4 stutters too much with SLI and other games I play regularly could be maxed on a 960 probably. If it was just a bit faster

Put that chip on a classified card with voltage control and I bet I could get more raw FPS performance out of it than my 780ti SLI and get rid of SLI stuttering.

OC potential looks good, nearly matches stock 980 SLI performance:

How can an engine not support multi-GPU? AFR should work for everything.

Yeah it looks good with OC, but the 980s will overclock just as well - if not better, creating the same performance deficit again.

I wish reviewers would only use OC results when comparing to other OC results. From that you would expect the Titan X is almost as fast as 980 SLI, which it is - at stock, but once you overclock those 980s as well it would look like the comparison of stock Titan X vs 980 SLI with a numbers increase on both.
