Yeah, it works. It makes the fan a lot louder since I can't get it below 30% manually. But it took care of the rattle. It still seems like a crude method to take care of the rattle especially when we consider that this card cost as much as a whole PC. I don't know why I splurged as much as I did. Worst of all I'm not completely satisfied

You need to take stock of what you're coming from and then to for an idea if you'll 'feel' the upgrade. After overclocking, I would take a single Titan over my previous 680SLI, it is a better experience if that is the level of power you're after. Obviously I wanted to actually 'feel' an upgrade though, so I got two, which was huge to the point I actually have a setup that is overkill for 2560x1600 in my experience.

Sell some more bitcoins and get another one I'm not sure what you were using before, but it had to be pretty powerful if you're finding the experience similar.

You just got a bad card. It happens. My cards don't rattle or whine. It's too bad your deal was such that you couldn't RMA it.

If fps is 60 with V-sync on I don't feel a difference. When it goes below 40fps it feels better, but I only tried one game for an hour. Mine does not OC too well, +100 and +300 is doable, +200 on the core is not. I haven't had time to find the exact limit.

Awesome, buddy of mine just figured out how to disable boost 2.0 for Titan so it keeps a stable clock Not long till he cuts out all the new b.s. nvidia put in there to handcuff the Titan and it becomes fully unleashed.

I have absolutely no whine or rattle at all with my Titan SC.

I'll have to ask more about that. Sounds pretty interesting. NVIDIA has really made some stupid mistakes lately with video BIOS. They need to stop thinking about retarded stuff like energy conservation and just concentrate exclusively on being badass... nothing else really matters in this gig.

Speaking of unleashed... just posted a new record this evening. Gosh these green monsters are so awesome.
3DMark FireStrike: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680M video card benchmark result - Intel Core i7-3920XM Processor Extreme Edition,Alienware M18xR2

HWBOT #1 world record 680M hardware rank (at time of this posting); #62 global rank on dual GPU systems
Snuggled all nice an warm between two 660 Ti SLI systems in #61 and #63 spots, LOL.

LOL! But But..680M SLI could never be this fast! It's slower than 660 Ti remember! Let me go find some graphs and act like your scores don't exist..BRB!

Is there any way to increase 2D clocks? 3D clocks and what's worse voltage in 2D is just very wasteful. 600MHz instead of 325 is enough to get rid of the rattle, any way to increase just 2D clocks? I hate how nv locks their cards, I can't even adjust the voltage down.
So far this generation has been a massive disappointment for me, the same problem with 3 cards. Just terrible.

Great score Fox
And now we are up to two benchmarks where 680M SLI beat GTX Titan. They were so sure that no chance in hell that we would beat Titan here... 22% better graphic score than Titan on stock clocks. Thats not bad

BTW: Have you tried the new overclocking console for Alienware notebooks with 680M? You get 6-8 different profiles that flash the 680M with a simple command like "M5". Pretty nifty

The performance of Titan is way overrated here. It has no chance with dual GPU set-ups in terms of raw frame-rates, especially if they scale properly.

Obviously Titan can't compete with SLI/CF in raw frame rates.

Nvidia Inspector allows you to control settings of cards at different levels, one of those levels is basically the 2D level, so yes you can alter the 2D clock.

Does not work, it doesn't apply new 2d clocks (P8). It only apply changes to memory clock.

It appears core clock wasn't at fault, it was the memory clock, setting the memory clock from 325 to 997MHz almost eliminated the rattle but it still rattles a bit.

I think Titan is going to suprise all of us and live up to its name as soon as hex editing wizards like svl7 are done fixing the things NVIDIA messed up on. I have been living in the high performance laptop world for several years. I travel extensively and have moved away from desktops for that reason. I can tell you that 580M and 680M performance absolutely suck with a stock vBIOS. 7970M kicks 680M's butt with a stock NVIDIA vBIOS, but as soon as the limitations are removed, 680M romps up one side of 7970M and down the other. That might be what we are seeing with Titan. AMD and NVIDIA are burning way too many calories on power conservation at the expense of performance and it needs to stop... NOW. I'm tired of seeing that lame approach in the mobile world and I find it disturbing that the same flawed mentality has found its way into to desktop world.

I think what's worse is the investment to get a mediocre piece of hardware. If these were being sold to cost and these measures were put in place to reduce RMA's so they remain slightly profitable, I think it'd be easier to tolerate. Shame people spend that kind of money and are still disappointed with the result.

We would need TDP restriction gone and more than 1.2V to get more out of Titan. I don't know if that wimpy PCB can handle more than 265W without any mods.

I'm having no luck finding another Asus titan. Been checking daily multiple times a day too. Too many ebay and small etailers trying to grab them so they can price gouge.

TDP restriction isn't a problem. A simple bios flash fixes that. The 1.212v limit is though.

But, I can bench 1215/7500 and 1176/7000 game stable, so I'm not upset. I'm all around 50% faster at 1440P than my previous GTX 680 clocked at 1280/6700. BIG difference from where I came from, but not so much for you if you had QF 6990s.

Sorry to hear about your rattling Titan though. It's definitely not normal. A few on OCN have posted about coil whine, but the majority seem to have silent Titans, myself included.

It matters to me. Why play a game at full boost clock and GPU voltage when 837MHz at less than a 1 volt can run the game at 60 frames per second?

I've been putting the new Titan vbios created by Tech|Inferno's -svl7- today to the test and its pretty nice so far Getting close to 17k but my card's ASIC sucks so I'm limited: http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/6393680

Gonna test firestrike in a few. In BF3, I can hold 1175 MHz stable and clocks don't move at all thanks to GPU Boost being removed from the bios.

Why when I click that 3dmark link does it say 1 Titan when your sig says 2?
