Newegg 40hr for $89.99 = GONE (no longer on site)
Dell 40hr for $99.99 = GONE (no longer on site)
Circuit City 140hr for $49.99 AR = $99.99 AR today

Looks like a snooze = lose on this.

Costco.com still shows the 140hr for $199.99 which would be $49.99 AR. here
Newegg has the 80hr for $169.99 here.

I don't think newegg is an authorized dealer which is required for the rebate to work. Read this page.

The actual rebate form does not contain any language restricting the purchase to an authorized retailer (as stated in OP). I'd suggest calling TiVo to be sure. I do know that people have purchased from companies not on the authorized list in the past and received the rebates.

Three things bother me;

Analog cable channels only.

Monthly fee for program info.

HD right around the corner and not compatible.

I have a PC with a Radeon all in wonder card that does just fine for all the analog stuff and no monthly charges, but it is kinda clunky. Best choice is a digital box integrated with whatever service you use. Anything that skips commercials is nice though, and the smart time shift gets very convenient.

Is this only available for a one year subscription meaning it is not available for the lifetime one?

It should work fine with the lifetime subscription, which is the way to go if it's your first TiVo.

Love to get my Two Series One DTIVOS working again. ALso have a UTV in the same closet. I loved the 2 channels recording and watching a recorded show at the same time.

Not sure if I can do the same things as a REPLAYTV with networking with DTIVO, but would like to sub these older units, however I dont think that DTV lets people do there own install, and sub. Maybe subbing two units thru a dealer and then adding these older Series One tivos. Hopefully.

But would miss the networking options that I have with Replay., But would give that up, for Two TUners.

Will this rebate work with the Toshiba RX-TS20?
Thanks.
The list of models and their service number first three digits is here.
You can use the rebate on series 2 stand alone units that have service numbers that start with 110, 130, 140, 230, 240, 264, 275, 540, 565, 590, 595.
Looks like the RX-TS20 starts with 565 so it should work.

Hold on, if you sign a year contract and pay $155, you get the $150 rebate? So that means you pay $5 for the service + cost of equipment? I might jump on this deal if this is the case, can someone confirm for me please.

The way I read it, you buy the unit, activate it, send in for the rebate, pay a monthly fee ($12.95 if it's your first unit, $6.95 if it's at least a 2nd unit)and continue to pay that monthly fee for a year. Sometime during that year your rebate will arrive. After 1 year you will be free to cancel your subscription service without any penalty. If you discontinue service during the first year, they will charge you a $150 early cancellation fee.

If you buy the 40hr unit from Newegg or Dell, I don't see why you would not get back at least your purchase price. In fact, I don't see anything on the rebate from that would keep you fromgetting $150 back even if you only spent $89.99, but I wouldn't complain if they decided to just rebate purchase price.

Will this work if you decide to purchase the lifetime service instead?

It works either way.

Thanks! I didn't know about the weeknees page.

One more question: I was looking at the fine print on the rebate form, and it says "DVRs with TiVo Basic service are not eligible for the $150 rebate." Does that mean to get it with the Toshiba units, you'd have to sign up for TiVo Plus?

I would love to ditch the cable DVR and get TIVO but I have heard that there are terrible delays when changing channels with that sort of setup and you essentially can't "channel surf." Also the telephone-line program guide update thing just sucked for DTV and was always going out and missing programs. Any thoughts from cable users with TIVO?
Here's some info that may help you.

My parents have Tivo with Dish Network. They use an IR Blaster to change the channels on the satallite reciever with the Tivo remote. You're right, it's slow (as slow as entering the channel number in the remote yourself if you go from 110 to 178 for example), but Tivo itself adds a little delay switching channels even on analog cable (without a set-top box). You can't blast through channels super fast like you can with analog cable - but that's what the guide is there for.

You don't need a telephone line to get the Tivo updates. You can use a wireless adapter once you've completed the initial Guided Setup using a phone line, or if you don't have a phone line, you can do Guided Setup using a USB200M wired adapter from Linksys.

Since my TV has a multitude of AV inputs, this is how my setup goes:

Coax from wall - split with 1000mhz splitter to the Tivo and the TV.

SVideo+RCA cables from the Tivo to the TV.

I watch the Tivo on Input 1 and can watch regular TV on channels 2-100. This is how I watch one thing while something else records (still can't record two shows at once).

You'd have to sign up for paid TiVo service and continue it for a year. I don't know what TiVo Plus is unless it's just the regular $12.95 monthly service.

Incidently, all TiVos, not just the ones involved in this rebate, activated after Sep5 will require a 1 year commitment which charges $150 for early cancellation.

Correct. You can only get the rebate if you have a TiVo where you pay for service.

TiVo Plus is the TiVo service for any box which has TiVo Basic. There's no difference between TiVo Plus and the TiVo service for a standalone box.

Thanks! I thought there might be some extra special secret level of service I was missing out on.

Since I blew it last week with the real good deals on Tivos, are there still any hot deals left or has everyone raised their prices because of the $150 rebate? I figured maybe a 40 hr Tivo is fine to purchse now, since a few years down the road they'll be obsolete anyway due to the HDTV, right? How long do these boxes hold up, if one purchases a lifetime subscription?

Best deal I see now is $49 after rebate for any Tivo, period. (for the 40 hr) at Circuit City, etc. Actually, the 40-hour one is $199.99 at Target, if I buy it thru couponcabin.com I get 10% discount, then take the rebate on top of that. Am I missing a hotter deal somewhere else?
