Memleaks, hwcomposer issues are ehhh... ICS is fine. And it's really just under the hood small animation changes. The SGS3 cruises through ICS as it is....
I moved from ICS to JB on my Nexus, and honestly it's not a huge leap. Smoother homescreen scrolling, cool/smooth app transitions. That's about it, except for Google Now which still hasn't learned enough to be really useful.
How dare you say JB is only small under the hood changes? Clearly, you don't know what you're talking about. Try running official JB on a Google device (Gnex, Moto Xoom) and then say what you think.
it's animation changes and getting it to run fast.
there aren't immense feature upgrades or anything that makes ICS look like it's lacking. It's kinda like the Froyo bump to GB. GB sped things up a bit, but didn't really bring anything new to the table.
If you have a fast enough phone like the SGS3, I don't think CM10 makes that big of a difference. Furthermore until issues like the hwcomposer are used, JB isn't going to appear that much faster. This is probably what s44 was referring to when he said it does't seem that much faster.
Remember, JB uses animations kinda like the iPhone so you feel its faster. In some regards it is faster, but scrolling screen to screen on my SGS2, it's definitely NOT 60 fps. We can attribute this to the lack of drivers and the memleak, and for that I don't see CM10 as a huge upgrade to CM9 at its current state for the SGS2. SGS3 development is about in the same place, so those are the same challenges.
Given that the SGS3 runs CM9 so smoothly though, I don't see too much gains possibly coming from CM10. I guess what I'm saying is you could make Doom 2 GPU accelerated, but does it matter if brute cpu power can do it just fine at 5000 fps? Ok a bit exaggerated, but what I'm saying is the SGS3 can beast through ICS already.
But perhaps I'm doing some apples & oranges comparison because when I say the SGS3 flies, it's because I'm basing it off the Touchwiz launcher. That thing seems to fly and make my SGS2 + CM9 + Custom kernel + Apex look slow.
If I had a GS3, I'd be running the shipping rom + root. I don't like Google-stock Android.
I love stock Android, but the SMS app looks like shit. :/
Is the version leaked in August the real deal?
Since I haev waited this long, should I wait a few more days for the official release?
Lovin' JB on my AT&T One X.
When JB is working properly in all aspects, you'll notice the changes. Project Butter, for instance, makes the animations 60fps all through. Currently, though, Project Butter isn't too well incorporated, and mix that with hwcomposer issues and memory leaks and that's why you're saying what you're saying.
If you ever watched the livestream from Google I/O, you wouldn't call JB just minor under the hood changes. It's more than that, my friend. ICS, if anything, was more cosmetic changes from GB, really.

Here is what will happen. You will flash a Jellybean rom and you will think its awesome. You will get it all set up and use it for a week or more and then you will start to notice annoying bugs. You will ignore these for a while as the bugs get worse and worse because you already spent the time to set up the new rom. Then you will end up back where you are now waiting for a stable and relatively bug free implementation of Jellybean. Been through this multiple times. Totally worth waiting until something stable is out.
