My local store had a deal. 200 and a 50 dollar rebate.
Oh by the way I'm not on tapatalk. I'm using the web. This screen is HUGE.

I thought you stuck to prepaid?

The connectivity on that thing is awesome, though: you can switch to AT&T and their LTE later if you like.

OK, I got the silver unit, very nice but it shows fingerprints and smears. I will need a case soon. Back panel is flimsy, wont click back on properly.

You can NOT use a prepaid SIM with this thing, I just tried. So instead of 30 dollars a month it looks like I will be spending 65 or so.

It didnt come with an SD card but 32GB onboard is plenty.
SUPER fast, I havent waited on anything. All my accounts were set up in a couple minutes. Gives me UMA calling by default whenever I connect to Wifi. Has the new Notification screen, with all the power buttons at the top.

If I am at the bottom of a list or page, I can double tap the top of the body to return instantly. It recognizes when my face is looking at it and wont disable or dim the screen. Has options for quick, premade home screens with all the common stuff. I dont feel the need to customize anything right now, its pretty much already setup the way I like.

Came with white glossy accessories, I guess they are trying to compete with apple. Earbuds are OK. Onboard loudspeaker is great. Camera is awesome. Can do a really fast burst mode, HDR, and basic editing with the stylus.

Clipboard works well with either text or scrapbook using the pen. Thats how I copied my password to log into the site (from my hotmail account).

Plenty of settings to fiddle with, I can enable/disable LED, tones, and vibrate for pretty much anything. Lots of ringtones and vibrate styles onboard, and I can download more. Comes with 4 nice fonts to choose from, I can download more. Plenty of really great wallpapers, live wallpapers and widgets already loaded. Nothing slows this thing down at all.

Apparently I get a shitload of cloud storage free from Samsung, and easy syncing of calendar, ToDo list, media and other crap.

Screen is absolutely gorgeous, I gotta go do some HD youtube now.

MORE STUFF -

Theres a hidden setting under the display. You can enable different color modes like natural, movie, intense and washed out.
Oh, and theres also a special power saving option that adjusts contrast based on whats being displayed at the moment.

How much do you pay per month for your plan?

I'm so tempted to buy one, but I currently pay $25 a month for unlimited Internet. Every plan I see raises the price up to ~$75. That's $50 more, or $1200 over the life of the phone.

T-mobile pre-play seems the best choice, but I don't have the $700 to buy it now, even if in the long run that's the better option.

edit: $65? That's not too bad, but still more then double what I currently pay. /sigh I have a terrible case of gadget lust.

I think I'm actually on the same plan as you. (Virgin's 300 min plan with the Triumph) I spent my whole lunch break today trying to get the phone and switch to T-Mobile's $30/100min plan. Unfortunately Best Buy and Walmart don't have it yet, and while the T-Mobile store I went to had it (as did the three others I called) they wouldn't sell it to me without a plan, and while they said it would work on the $30/100 plan, that $30/100 plan is only available online and at Walmart.

Any idea how that works? from my understanding a prepaid sim should work with ANY phone that takes a sim card.

OK, the youtube app works great, plenty of options right at your fingertip. If it shares your Gmail account then you are automatically logged in.

HD videos look freakin awesome. I cant see any pixels. Colors pop better than my desktop. Frame rate is smooth. Audio is unimpressive through the speakerphone. Its loud, but tinny and shallow. Will obviously be using headphones most of the time.

Gonna try Netflix now.

They obviously want to milk you for service. The phone itself is locked to tmobile and actually they can control what kind of SIM you use. They know if you put a prepaid SIM in and can deny service, mine just did.

Actually, if I dig around on the web I bet I can find a way to unlock this thing.

OH MY GOD NETFLIX IS SO FRIGGEN SWEET!!

For some incredibly odd reason the bass response is a hell of a lot better than in youtube. Maybe their app limits bass cuz it knows I'm on a mobile device.

Youtube blocks really good sound so as to thwart capturing good sounds for MP3 playblack.

How did you get a 32gb model for $200-50? Glad your liking it. Your input is really making me want one. I have to wait a couple weeks till my att commitment is over though

Also sounds like they are copying apple on some things or apple copied someone else. On my crapphone4 I can double tap the top of the screen to get back to the top as you mentioned about your gn2

Alright, it has the Tmobile account app preinstalled, tells me my minutes and bills and stuff (in the notification bar if I want).
Aside from that Tmobile has no junkware installed.

Samsung has quite a bit however most of it looks cool. The Flipboard news & magazine actually seems nice, and doesnt require an account if you dont want.
HA! The top tech article is Note II out today.

The cloud storage stuff looks OK, but I dont know if I will use it or not. The only thing I need cloud for is schoolwork, and I'd just as soon keep those files on my laptop.

Has anybody used the Google Play movies & music? It seems kind of expensive if you already have Amazon Prime and Netflix. Especially since Amazon has DRM free downloads in addition to streaming.

The maps are ridiculously smooth and even the satellite view is damn smooth. Am downloading northern Virginia to offline mode.
Yeah, theres no way in hell I'm going back to WP7 now.

Samsungs picture gallery is cute and surprisingly effective. I dont care much for the 3D viewing of images, but whatever. It doesnt affect performance at all.
The camera is sadly better than my D40. Much better ISO range, faster autofocus, HDR, and of course can instantly upload to picasa or whatever. Will play with the editing tools now.

No not the top of the screen, the top of the body. Its accelerometers and gyroscopes are that good. It can tell when you tap on the side of the thing.

Dammit now I don't know if I should go Razr Maxx HD or Note 2. On the one hand I love the Maxx's battery life and Moto is much closer to stock Android than Samsung. On the other hand, that stylus...

OK, so I am seeing a minor issue already. A crapload of stuff isnt actually on the phone yet.
They want you to sign up for a samsung account, get the samsung store app on your phone, and download stuff through them.

I went ahead and signed up for the free account, and got the good photo editor (the default editor just applies annoying effects to your photos).

Alright, so, now, the thumbnail browser is nice. I can easily select, move, delete, upload, and download many things at once.
The free editor is not bad at all. Has all the usual stuff like crop, resize, color adjust (not just artsy stuff but practical RGB settings, exposure and hue), and some basic cut & paste functions.
Overall I like it, best free mobile editor I've ever seen. Much better than the ones I found for Honeycomb.

The only edit function available directly in the viewer is crop, but that makes sense to me, it would be the most common way to correct photos you take while walking around. All other tools require loading up one of the apps.

Also the viewer includes multiple ways to upload, and also share with other samsung beam devices.

i was in the same boat but I've decided on the gn2 this time, just need to decide if I want to try Verizon or stick with att. I would do prepaid but speed is a must for me.
Verizon will not have these till mid nov from what I've been told but it will be here by thanksgiving.

Hope they aren't trying to start some android based apple type of deal.

Play Music's utter crap, I bought an album and a few songs off it when I had my Note 1. I didn't know at the time the songs only show up and play in Googles crappy Play app. I don't like their music player at all. Took a ton of hacking for me to get the songs to work where I could listen to them in my music player of choice. I don't know why Google has an option in their player to save the media from the cloud directly to your phone. Only to have such stupid restrictions on actually playing it.
