Does anyone remember if the old Diamond TnT Ultra 32mb card supports T&L.

Nope. I had a TNT a long time ago, and it had no hardware T&L.

My son's server is running a Kyro 2 and he needs a T&L compatible video card for some game mapping. I had an old TnT Ultra lying around so I thought I'd try a post first before making the swap. Well it's almost his birthday so maybe I'll pick him up a new AIW 9700 or 9800 and put the GF4 4200 from his gaming PC into the server.

I normally do upgrades on my son's PC every year, so what the heck. Anyway you can't take it with you so why not spend his inheritance.

Actually, the Kryo/Kyro2 should support T&L the same way the TNT/TNT2 can, via software. PowerVR's site, if it's still around, specifically states this. Having a Hercules 4000xt at one time (Kyro), I can attest the games I've tried using T&L worked just fine.

I can't find the T&L software emulation mode for the Kyro. My son's server is running W2k and I checked in the Direct X control panel and Display along with the Kyro software and there no trace of it. He's installed the lastest drivers for it but I'll check to see if there's still a PowerVR site.

The latest Kyro II drivers support released eariler this year support PowerVR's EnTnL, (Enhanced T&L). Make sure the check box is selected under Direct 3D options. EnTnL works in a similar way to the way 3D Analyze does.

T&L software emulation mode...that just seems a bit funny to me. Transform and Lighting was originally done in software. Then they came up with hardware T&L. And now there's a software emulator to make the OS think that there's hardware T&L, when it's actually software anyway...

I just realized that I have a GF3 TI 500 in a Linux box, so I'll replace the Kyro2 and solve the problem.
