The Bible doesn't equal God. The Bible = a bunch of men who wanted to put together a way to get people to think exactly like them, all the while claiming it was God's work. It wasn't God's work, it was their own. Then you continue the same path by claiming the same.

If God created the Bible, then why did he choose to exclude the vast majority of the population of the world? Why would he create a minority of "enlightened" people only to leave the majority to hell? What benevolent and loving God would doom the majority of His creation to hell? Amazingly, many other minorities think THEY are the enlightened ones and everybody else goes to hell. Yet more greedy men clamoring for power.

The key is, God wouldn't Idiotic evangilists who want more power would. They are greedy and corrupt and insecure in their beliefs that they have to create a "them or us" attitude, they are cowards and close-minded fools.

God doesn't live in a Bible, a cross, or a fekkin church. You want God's Bible? Go outside, smell the air, trees, and his creation. Ignore all of that BS and do right by others. THAT is God, not some fekkin piece of paper.

If that's your main reason to believe.. that's pretty sad.

Cancelled are the Ori

Fixed

There's still hope, a higher power only known as "the network" may pick them up and save them.

Yeah, I thought the word is NBC or TBS or somebody else already picked them up for another season.

no way, did you read this on gateworld or somewhere else?

Wouldn't it be depressing if people beleived in a particular religion just because they were covering their bases?.....

If I die and stand before God, hey, I'll believe he exists. And I'll say that he's an ass for giving humans one pitifully tiny lifetime to determine the ultimate nature and reason for existence (God did it), and then administer an infinite amount of punishment. That's just psychotic behavior.
If I die and no afterlife exists, I'll never ponder much of anything ever again, just basically rot in the ground.

Why do people on either side of this argument care what the others believe?

You want to go to church and all that? Fine. Go. Doesn't affect me in the least.

You a atheist? Fine. Doesn't affect me in the least.

Just STFU about whatever it is you believe or don't believe.

I could have sworn somebody posted a link about it in one of Zim's Stargate threads. Or I was totally talking out of my butt, which is entirely possible.

Maybe because I would rather live my life how I want to, rather than waste my life trying to please some invisible fairy in the sky?

Exactly...yet no one seems to understand this very simple thing. The simple truth is that you are insecure in your beliefs if you feel the need to constantly shove them down people's throats who see things differently. You are not being generous and trying to share the great gift you have found...GET THAT THROUGH YOUR HEAD.

I didn't read the entire thread, but I'd like to point out that confused1234's reasoning is logically faulty.

He's essentially making Pascal's Wager:
This is how Alec Fisher puts The Wager in his book The Logic of Real Arguments (2004):

Either there is a Christian God or there isn't. Suppose you believe in His existence and lead a Christian life. Then, if he does exist you will enjoy eternal bliss and if He doesn't exist you will lose very little. But suppose you don't believe in His existence and don't lead a Christian life. If He doesn't exist you will lose nothing, but if He does exist, you will suffer eternal damnation! So it is rational and prudent to believe in [a Christian] God's existence and to live a Christian life.
There are eight very strong criticisms of the Wager, which can be read in this Wikipedia article. I highly recommend it to those who take this line of thinking seriously.

If you bothered to read the thread you would have known two things:

1) This points was already made and reiterated

2) The real topic at hand is about the wonderful world of Stargate

If you had read the first line of my reply, you would have known that I didn't read that thread and have no intention to do so.

Stargate sucks, movie aside. Never liked it. Firefly on the other hand, woot!

wtf Stargate is part of the great triad known as SciFi Friday The triad is currently incomeplete with BSG missing, but soon it will be restored to full power.

Firefly unfortunately fell victim to the wrath of "the network"

I'm wondering if (or how) SG1 on a new network will affect guest appearances on Atlantis. Do you think there will still be a lot of crossover between the shows?

And what will happen when the Ori find out about the Pegasus galaxy?
