I didn't read the entire thread, but I'd like to point out that confused1234's reasoning is logically faulty.

He's essentially making Pascal's Wager:
This is how Alec Fisher puts The Wager in his book The Logic of Real Arguments (2004):

Either there is a Christian God or there isn't. Suppose you believe in His existence and lead a Christian life. Then, if he does exist you will enjoy eternal bliss and if He doesn't exist you will lose very little. But suppose you don't believe in His existence and don't lead a Christian life. If He doesn't exist you will lose nothing, but if He does exist, you will suffer eternal damnation! So it is rational and prudent to believe in [a Christian] God's existence and to live a Christian life.
There are eight very strong criticisms of the Wager, which can be read in this Wikipedia article. I highly recommend it to those who take this line of thinking seriously.

If you bothered to read the thread you would have known two things:

1) This points was already made and reiterated

2) The real topic at hand is about the wonderful world of Stargate
If you had read the first line of my reply, you would have known that I didn't read that thread and have no intention to do so.

Stargate sucks, movie aside. Never liked it. Firefly on the other hand, woot!

wtf Stargate is part of the great triad known as SciFi Friday The triad is currently incomeplete with BSG missing, but soon it will be restored to full power.

Firefly unfortunately fell victim to the wrath of "the network"

Dude, totally. SciFi Friday just won't be the same without Stargate. What are they going to do, add in another craptastic made-for-TV movie? Oooh, maybe another lame - I mean exciting - horrible dragon-esque sort of flick. Yeah, those work real well for ratings . . .

Firefly was a good show, but I can see why it would be cancelled on a network. It really should have been produced on SciFi (or another cable channel) from the get-go.

Speaking of which I think I may pick up the yet-another-release of Star Wars in hopes I can see the original flicks without all of the added 'special effects' that weren't so special.

from what i've read, there can still be overlap. MGM still owns both shows, but sci fi was paying them to cast seasons.

fsck man, I really tried to like Stargate, there's just something about it I could never get into. It's just...boring. I'm sure I just watched the wrong episodes or something, but it's too late now.

Firefly was killer. I still adore Babylon 5 and own 4 of 5 DVD sets for it. Star Trek: TNG of course. Haven't seen any BSG yet, hopefully soon!

By the way guys, Ezri Dax or Jadzia Dax?

Good, I'm glad to hear that. I think the overlap helps both shows.

none of this was about how/why i believe in god.....

So you're telling all non-believers to believe in Him out of fear? What kind of bullsh!t false-faith is that?

why dont you believe in the bible. what would happen if you keep convincing yourself that god doesnt exist only to find out when you die he does and you go to hell. so i say believe in god because if religion is wrong NO BAD can come form it and if religion is right so much good can come from it

How can you just believe in something? I seriously doubt you'd be able to fake your way into your perfered afterlife

Edit: Do religious or political discussions ever end well if everyone doesnt hold the same opinion?

LET THIS BE THE ONE.

You said that halfway down the page, you think I'm going to read a few dozen replies in an already flawed thread? I'll pass on that one.

Another reason to not believe in a religion. Believing in a God is one thing, but believing in someone elses' is just stupid.

So basically, your god is going to send me to hell because I'm skeptical of people claiming that this one particular book happens to be from the one true "god", but no other ones are? A book, which, by the way, doesn't have much physical evidence backing its claims? Do I really want to spend eternity with that kind of "god" anyway?

The central core to my christian belief system is that all star gate content, no matter if it be movie, television or straight to video, SUCKS!!!!!!!!!

Reducing faith to a cost/benefit analysis just doesn't seem like the christian thing to do.

I don't believe in god because it doesn't seem believable to me. The entire concept of an omnipotent being seems rather unrealistic. Also, there is no supporting evidence.

Well, if you want people to tell you why they don't believe in something, you've got to expect to be asked why you do. It just kind of goes with the territory.
