Why don't you believe in the Bhagavad Gita?
Why don't you follow the Koran?

Bottom line, there's nice people in both categories and, when it comes down to it, the way you are as a person doesn't really change much no matter what religion you subscribe to. The fact that assholes are signing up for Christianity can be encouraging in that it mellows them out a little bit, but it also gives Christians a bad name.

So don't hate. The nice people are just doing their thing and the assholes can't help it.

Oh yeah, and addressing the OP's question, that bit of logic does make a lot of sense. However, belief is not something you can just divine out of thin air. You actually have to believe it.

They, unfortunately, are in the minority. If you think people in most communities across this country don't judge you because of your beliefs you're sadly mistaken. Bunch of damned hypocrites.

God I love California, the fundamentalist religious nutjobs are in the minority here.

1) The bible is a book written by a man (or men)...therefore fiction and deserves no more or less following than any other book.

2) I don't care IF there is a hell or IF I go. It can't be worse than life.

3) Yeah, nothing bad has EVER come from religion

If God created the Bible, then why did he choose to exclude the vast majority of the population of the world? Why would he create a minority of "enlightened" people only to leave the majority to hell? What benevolent and loving God would doom the majority of His creation to hell? Amazingly, many other minorities think THEY are the enlightened ones and everybody else goes to hell. Yet more greedy men clamoring for power.

The key is, God wouldn't Idiotic evangilists who want more power would. They are greedy and corrupt and insecure in their beliefs that they have to create a "them or us" attitude, they are cowards and close-minded fools.

God doesn't live in a Bible, a cross, or a fekkin church. You want God's Bible? Go outside, smell the air, trees, and his creation. Ignore all of that BS and do right by others. THAT is God, not some fekkin piece of paper.

Gospel of Thomas FTW!

Good going numbnuts, how about you think before you post. Maybe try the search function; I'm sure you could find plenty to read.

Doesn't that require the ability to think for ones-self? Doesn't belief such as his/hers automatically depict a lack thereof?

OP, this argument is infinitely flawed.

GODS do or do not exist, not A GOD. Worshiping the wrong one in my mind would be worse than worshiping nothing. Also, you derive the need to worship in the first place from the bible. Whether I believe in God or not, to me, is irrelevant. The only thing I'm 100% sure of is that God - being all powerful - can't possibly care if I worship him every week or not. There's absolutely no way. The only reason I have to go to Church and worship God is because the bible says so. I believe the bible is at best only partially true (there was a guy named Jesus), and I refuse to believe that an all-powerful being that could have just created servants if he wanted to would have created people with thinking minds and free will instead that he "expects" to worship him.

Why don't you believe in *MY* god? I follow the Church of the ATOT Troll's©?, which I will allow you to follow too. The membership fees are quite small compared to your god. I won't even ask for your eternal soul! I only ask, for this special one time offer, $19.95*! That's right, only $19.95, and I'll even throw in salvation at NO EXTRA COSTS! *applause* It gets even better. For just $5 more I'll throw in your handy daily living guide called My Bible©?. I look forward to your PM *cough*and your money*cough*

*per day...

Religion is a vessel for "salvation", or more importantly, protection from a fear of the unknown. While I do believe in "God", I believe it is more of a universal all-encompassing awareness and energy. And the "afterlife" is really just our spirits becoming part of that flow of energy.

In more materialistic terms (for ease of comprehension), you could look at it like the Force and The Great Link, except they are one being.

I will say to you what I have said to others like you....what do you care about my soul?

Why is it any of your business what I believe and what I do not?

I would think that you could do more productive things in your life than try to convince me that I am wrong and you are right...perhaps take a homeless person into your home, feed them, give them clothing, give them the means to an education help them get a job, feed a starving child and by that I mean actually prepare them a meal and give it to them. Help build a home for people who have none. Help with the elderly and serve them, visit a nursing home and keep them company when no one else will.

Your life as a righteous man will be far more fullfilling if you do these things. Unless of course your idea of fullfillment is sitting on your ass at a keyboard starting flamebait threads trying to convince others you are right and they are wrong. Believe me if you do the things I suggested above you will be FAR to busy to concern yourself with what happens to others who do not share your beliefs and thier lives beyond this one.

Otherwise you are nothing but a hypocrite like about 85% of the self-righteous Christians I have encountered in my lifetime.

Let me add also, this is not just a statement for Christians, it goes for ANY religion in which the followers try to force feed thier beliefs and ideals down the throats of those that have a different perspective on things.

The Ori are liars. They promise ascension but they'll never give it to you! They only want you to worship them so they can get powerful from it. Don't believe in the Ori!

What if it turns out it's a test, and the right answer was not to believe in him ?
