your brother is crazy. crazy people do drugs. crazy people do other stupid stuff. its comforting for people to see the connection and be able to say, ooooh its gotta be the drugs. its a nice scapegoat that has been demonized for a long time. sadly, drug use is just another SYMPTOM of a different problem. drugs ARE bad and are they unhealthy. they dont make you crazy or ruin your life. you do that on your own.

Once again, your brother got the ball rolling. People are responsible for their own actions, don't take the cheap way out by blaming the substance. It sounds a lot like the parents who say that Doom was the cause of the Columbine shootings People need to learn how to place responsibility in the hands of people, not take the cheap way out and blame drugs/games/movies etc...

Yeah, I knew a guy (actually, I later found out "he" was a she ) who was kinda like that. High functioning Schizo, very artistic, but prone to bouts of... well... schizophrenia. Weird, off the wall reasoning, hallucinations, etc. Smoking pot made him calm, but it did little to stop the other effects of the disease. Unfortunately the sad truth with Schizophrenics is that the medications often times make them feel worse than the disease does. Thorazine is notorious for not only killing sexual urges, but making those on it feel uncomfortable when what would normally be arousing stimuli are introduced. It's a sad, vicious cycle.

Again OP, your brother needs therapy. During and after detox. Pot isn't the only thing to blame here.

My brother is a genious. He is honestly the smartest musician I have ever known. He can pick up any instrument and have it down to a point in a few hours. In fact he has taken over peoples places in an orchastra with an instument that he had played for the first time that day. He has been in countless newspapers, orchestras, offered many full-ride scholorships etc..

I think being a GENIOUS is really just another form of mental retardation. Supertardation? You guys know what I am talking about, people so smart they seem dumb? Also, some of the worlds brightest people have been plagued by mental problems. Im sorry for your brother, but I think you are trying to assign blame when there probably isn't anything culpable.

ok after rereading that a couple of tiems i've come to the conclusion that yes your brother is on drugs......

however contrary to your belief I severely doubt the drugs he is on are pot/hash etc.

It sounds like he is on some psychedelics and hallucinogens......lsd, mushrooms etc...

If he is hanging out with tribes perhaps they have given him some hallucinogens that they use for spiritual purposes....did you ever think of that?

Your brother is abnormal to begin with, it isn't the pot. You say he is incredibly talented with music. That suggests right there that in some manner, he is imbalanced. It happens with most people who show extraordinary ability in any one area. Research any recognized genius and you'll learn how imbalanced they truly were. Newton, Einstein, Mozart, Pollack, Da Vinci, etc. None of them were normal, so to speak. Your blame is really misplaced.

While I feel sorry for your brother I think you should realize that he is most likely abusing other harder drugs and these are probably exasperating a mental condition that he already has. it sounds to me like he is self medicating, has he been on any prescribed medications? If he is as brilliant as you claim then you should remeber a saying "There is a fine line between genius and instanity". I think it's a shame that you're using his condition to incite a flamewar.

people have problems, some people SHOULD NOT DO DRUGS. they just dont have a strong enough mind to understand the concepts of altered consciouness. its not for EVERYBODY. iv gone thru my far share of substances and i came out fine, im not worse off then i was, and im actually some what better because it gave me some things to think about. there IS A PURPOSE for some drugs.

marijuana has real world medical applitcations. its not addicting physically by any means. yes alcohol is worse, and its legal. whats legal and what is illegal is not the issue, laws have gotten out of hand, thats obvious. if you cant tell some laws shouldnt even exsist well then... there probably isnt hope for you.
