Burying people in coffins that resist decomposition is indeed a pointless waste of space. People are going to keep dying, and eventually every bit of land is going to need to be devoted to cemetery plots, or else we're going to have to start doing this in layers.

Cremating me would be quite efficient in terms of the volume of the resulting material.
Burial in a decomposable container would work, too. I'll eventually get worked back into the dirt.
Either way, I really won't care a whole lot about anything once I'm dead.

It's kind of gross when you think about that on a larger scale. Earth is coated with a thin film of dead plants, animals, and excrement. And it periodically rains, turning some of it into goo.

I don't believe in burial, but for practical reasons. Caskets and funeral homes are cons, they prey on people during a time of morning and get them to waste thousands of dollars on nothing. Putting bodies in the ground is also a waste of surface area, the bodies ar not asleep, they don't need elaborate beds and holes in the ground. Everyone should be cremated IMO. It's cheap, saves spaces and just makes sense.
