To beer or not to beer?

A sink plug has been missing on a bathroom sink for quite some time, and my kid dropped a bunch of stuff into it. I decided to disassemble P-catch and retrieve everything. But the whole drain assembly is so old, when I started unscrewing the catch, the whole thing just fell apart.

So, I removed everything altogether - from catch to pipe to sink flange.

Went to the store and got new kits, and have everything ready to go.

Decided to grab a bite before diving under the sink for an hour. Should I have a beer or three? This could make things a lot more interesting!

Miller Lime is some good stuff for shit beer. Get some of that.

Also, drink an entire six pack before starting any work. Post pics in the morning.

If you are doing work on your house, you should have a beer in your hand or sitting on something near by.

It doesn't take an hour to replace a P-trap, take 30 second to mount the new P-trap in place wash hand while wait to for sink/s to fill up to flood level rim and drink, then pull plug/s for leak test.

If he's asking whether he should drink or not, he's MOS DEF a beer nubcake. A 6 pack will probably do him in for the night.

If I were doing the plumbing, I'd buy an 18

It takes longer than that to properly apply plumber's putty to joints.

P-trap do not need putty, it comes with self sealing flanges and compression gasket.

All done!

I replaced the drain body (new flange, tail piece, etc), then installed pop-up lever and discovered, that the new lever is too long, and strikes the back wall. Took out the lever, took a saw to it, then installed everything back. Then installed a new p-trap and tested for leaks.

The sink cabinet is extremely user-unfriendly, so most of the time wasted was crawling around and trying to fit it in properly to see what I am doing and position the wrench accurately.

I swear, this summer I am going to have this whole bathroom remodeled. Can't take this any more.
