BOINC Climate Prediction beta has now started using v4.2
Guess what, can't attach to project, seems projects using v3.2 aren't compatible with v4.2 <sigh>

BTW, looks like http://climateprediction.net/ is the "correct" url to attack with, even the other atleast works for now...

Note, till seti@home &amp; predictor@home upgrades to v4, you can't run these with CPDN. And upgrading to v4 will on install delete all wu/result-info &amp; v3-applications, so remember to report back results before upgrading.

This probably goes along with the conversation... Now I am seeing:

SETI@home - 2004-08-05 13:48:30 - Message from server: To participate in this project, you must use major version 4 of the BOINC core client. Your core client is major version 3.

What does this mean?

For the moment, this is just someone not remembering to change to v3 before compiling server-components, and this is already fixed. So you can hit "retry" immediately. and hopefully you can get work...

Buried in the seti-BOINC-forums:

The deamon responsible for granting credit is turned off at the moment. But any work accomplished is being recorded and as soon as we fix the directory structure issue the validator will be turned back on.

Keep in mind, any results turned in since the last scheduler fix will eventually get credit.

We developed hierarchical directory structure to get around the big directory problem (see August 4, below). This solution is backward compatible with all current work units. It is being tested in alpha now. Next week it will go to beta and then to public. We also have a tool to distribute all recent results into the new hierarchy. When that tool is run, credit will appear for all of these results. The credit appearance will be spread over a number of days.
In other news, we have the SnapAppliance 18000 configured. It shows a 10x speed up over the software RAID we are now using. We are awaiting a UPS for it.
