Second Post. Great advice last time, now another question.
I have a 3.2p4 that I am upgrading the motherboard to an asus P4800 Mobo. I am gonna use my previous MSI PT880 MOBO for the P2.4 CPU that is left over from my last machine. The thing is I have 2 Gigs of pc3200 400mhz Patriot CAS 3 RAM.
Now the question. Should I just divide the Ram sticks into one Gig in the 2.4 and one gig in the 3.2 or should I just break down and upgrade the ram because the Asus board deserves better???

I hardly ever play games on my machine, but I do like the option with faster machines. STABILITY is the most important thing to me. Is there that much of a difference with cas 2 to cas 3 in my 3.2 that I am upgrading? If it matters I am using an 9550 ATI Video Card on an ANTEC Sonata 380 watt case????

THanks for any help,

Unless you are doing extreme photoshop/video editing 2GB most likely will NOT benefit you right now.

1GB is plenty.

I say split it up, and upgrade down the road.

I figured as much.
No I don't do anything extreme. Except occassionally drink code red extreme:roll: This is GOOD NeWS for me. My wife is about to kill me with three computer cases and pentium boxes and PCI boxes laying all over the office with boxes arriving in the mail every day. Although she does like that we NEVER see the blue screen of death in this house.
Thanks,

Either way, adding an additional GIG of ram is not going to increase stability.

But good luck.

Oh boy. I am not being clear. I should have never mentioned stability, I am pretty sure it is gonna be stable either way. I mean since I am upgrading the board which I think is going to be faster, is it worth it to get cas 2 ram that would be faster? I don't know if I could even tell a difference in performance with cas 2 from cas 3?

THe question is not whether to add another gig of ram. I am saying should I put the 2 gig of cas 3 to the old p2.4 machine. And buy completely new cas 2 ram for the 3.2 that I am upgrading with the asus board. Sorry for any confusion but unfortunately I write as disorganized as I think.
