To return it or to keep it ??? help me with the decision

ok here is the deal
i bought 1 stick of PC2700 512mb (kingston hyperx) of ram for my epox 8k3a+ from newegg for $96. But b4 the ram arrived my 8k3a+ blew up on me . So now i ordered NF7-S from zipzoomfly for $103.

my question is should i return the PC2700 and order something higher (maybe 3200 or 3500).

If you want to overclock like a madman, the faster RAM will open the door for that, and also leaves the door open for AthlonXPs based on a 400MHz bus by default, too. What's your CPU, is it at least a Thoroughbred (and therefore unlocked for multiplier adjustments)?

right now i have XP 2100+..but i'm thinking of buying a XP 1700+ or 180+ t-b "b" to OC it. It will be my first attempt to really OC, cause i didnt get much out of the XP 2100+ (got it up to 2200+).

how far will this hyper-x pc 2700 go??

he said he had a 2100+, but that could be anything. a pally which don't o/c worth much, a tbredA, slightl better, or a tbredB which should o/c good. and he only got it up to 2200+ which makes me doubt he has a tbredB.

rock, i wouldn't worry about getting faster ram, if you can't run your ram in sync, it ain't the end of the world. getting slight performance increase by paying a lot more for faster ram is not worth it in my eyes. go run 400fsb/333mem, it ain't gonna kill your performance like others want you to believe. and if you could run 400/400, even better.

but some dude on cpu forum did benchmark with 400fsb/333mem (tight timmings), vs 400fsb/400/mem (relaxed timmings), and guess who won most real world benchmarks?? the former.
