I was just about to go to bed, but this actually made me stop and post something.

My experience with them was ok until a point. Then, they double-billed me, and invented a 100-minute phone call that I supposedly made in the middle of the day. (Interestingly, the person who I called was ALSO on Cingular and the charge didn't show up on his account.)

Anyway, after dealing with their support staff (in what was truly the worst customer service experience of my life--yelling at your customer over the phone doesn't win you any points) [EDIT: I delt with four people in two different call centers; all were uniformly curt and rude], I finally got through to someone in their management system--after he spent 2 minutes on the phone with me, he proptly avoided my calls, and had his secretary tell me he wasn't in. -- At this point, the billing errors were (mostly) fixed--I just wanted them to know what a bad operation was being run in customer service. From all indications, they couldn't care less.

Anyway, Cingular is absolutely horrific. I hate them. HATE them. T-Mobile is much, much nicer to deal with--both in their stores and on the phone. (They helped me through a rough transition between a single-and-family talk plan, and gave me two free months of service because of their computer glitch) Ask their reps if they can do something to match the price/throw in a free phone, something--if you ever have to deal with customer support, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Please don't go with Cingular. If you do, Lord help you if you ever have a problem.... [Another EDIT: I'm in Atlanta as well--as if you couldn't tell by the name.] Good luck.

That sucks.... sorry to hear that..... I wouldnt hold T-Mobile high of mistakes though.... When i was on them about about 2 years ago, my first 3-4 cell phone bills came out at around $500-$600 each because none of my minutes were coming out of my plan because whoever coded my account missed a few codes... I had to call every month and bitch to get the bill corrected..... Each month saying they corrected it, only to get an insane bill again the next month.

I'm not saying there is no company that has mistakes, but I'm with Bob on this. When i started my Cingular acct, they didn't connect my phone for 3 weeks from the time they disconnected my old phone (Was porting a number over). Then, my bill wasn't even reflecting calls for 5 months which was fine for rollovers but I need a detailed record of my calls for my job. They finaly got the calls to go back on and OVER billed my acct for all the missed usage. Called them and after dealing with credits and debits and acct and billing problems up the arse, everything was sorted out......8 months into the 1 year contract.

Worst problem i had with tmobile was switching to another plan after my contract was up and they told me no contract had to be renewed to change plans. When I tried to move service, they gave me a charge but I got that straightened out in one 20 min call.

I switched to Verizon Wireless from Cingular. I'm much happier now. I don't drop calls all over the place, people can hear me on the phone, and I don't have billing errors every other month, anymore.

I'm very happy with Cingular. In my area they have far better service than anyone else (including Verizon).

Evenyone I know that had Cingulair has ditched them and have gone to either Verizon or Nextel. I personally have had Verizon for just about 2 years and have never had any problems. The coverage has been great, the one time I needed their support it was good, and have never had a billing problem. On Sept 1 it will be time for me to get a new contract and new phones, and I will probably sign the 2 year contract again, just because I don't forsee any problems with them.

Free LD
Free Roam
1yr Contract

And they have the Sony Ericsson T237 for Free and T637 for $50 AR.

Do you guys who have cingular like the service?

I live in upstate South Carolina and have no problem with my Cingular service. That being said, my girlfriend has lived in Miami and Melbourne Florida with the Cingular Service down there...and she absolutely abhores it. She is counting the days (only like 2 months) until her contract is up...then she is switching. She REALLY hates it.

They're all crooks anyway, though

bawhahah I came in to this thread to say how awesome Cingular is in this area (central florida). I have no complaints, really.

It's worth mentioning that you don't get reception at work
