Was gonna possibly switch to T-Mobile, but we found a fairly good deal on Cingular and we may go that route instead....

$64.99/mo for 2 Lines
850 Rollover Mins
Free N&W
Free LD
Free Roam
1yr Contract

And they have the Sony Ericsson T237 for Free and T637 for $50 AR.

Do you guys who have cingular like the service?

Cingular support is garbage, and they don't have the best reception in my area (central florida)
They're all crooks anyway, though

cingular has bad reception and their billing department is a bunch of idiots. I get my bill about 2 out of every 3 months, and I MUST pay it in person or they magically don't get the checks I send.

again, the answer to this question is.

IT DEPENDS ON LOCATION!
in Los Angeles Cingular has okay reception. In Springfield Missouri it is mediocre at best.
however, I do have to agree that Cingular support is somewhat on the poor side.

voicestream is t-mobile now. Was with tmobile for 2 wonderful years. Switch to cingular for a cell phone deal and hated every minute of it. stay away from cingular if you can. also, if you need help getting a decent deal with t-mobile, i have a few sales contacts on the inside with t-mobile. They are really pushing their cust serv these days and are focusing on retension. if you need a little help, just PM me.

PS: t-mobile coverage was superior to cingular too. (South Florida here) I could do trips striaght up the east coast and never lose my signal. i do the same trip now and my reception is spotty and i suspect there are some calls that never even make it to my handset.

cingular service is getting better. I've never actually contacted customer service, as I got the phone through a dealer. The dealer was a great person, so I never had a service problem.

I've been with Cingular for about 5-6 years now. Thinking of switching to T-Mobile, but only because Cingular stations in our area are switching to the old AT&T Wireless stations, and T-Mobile is taking over Cingular.

We're also paying slightly more than the prices for plans right now... Personally I didn't like Cingular very much, but not up to the point where I would cancel or switch services. Sprint looks great but their phones are more expensive than T-Mobile/Cingular's plans (I think T-Mobile/Cingular give bigger incentives for stores who open accounts)

Been with Cingular for 3 years or so. No complaints. I am in Atlanta.

I considered switching to T-Mobile, but supposedely you shouldn't switch carriers over a few bucks a month if you have had a good experience with your current carrier. That would have been the only reason to switch.

As far as the billing problems mentioned above, I always pay my bill online and never run into any probs.

We've been with Cingular for a long time and we've never had a problem with billing or anything like that. Reception in my area (Houston) is flawless, and I've never had a problem with roaming anywhere. Service is only going to get better as they absorb AT&T's cell sites.

Also, rollover rules all other minute plans.

I worked as a contractor for them for 2 years and now experiencing the billing hell folks talk about now trying to get a seperate account after divorce.

Should've gone to another carrier but like someone said, they're all crooks.

I've had Cingular for about a year and a half - no trouble at all. Customer service was great for me the one time I had to call them. No reception trouble here (Seattle).

I would've liked it more if the FastForward cradle worked how I thought it would! Apparently they only offer it in areas served by Bell South, and it only works if your phone is the same area code as the number you're forwarding too.

BTW, fastforward cradle lets u drop ur phone in, and automatically all incoming calls are rerouted to a landline phone of your choice, without charging you minutes.

Those rollover minutes can only be used by the primary phone on the account

Oh, reception is generally good in BellSouth service areas and it will only get better in 6 months, once they've integrated the AT&T Wireless network. Service has been awesome...everytime I complain about my bill they credit me the discrepancy, they're easy to reach on the phone, and they're very courteous and helpful. 100x better than Sprint, which is all I have to compare it with.

Damn, I just got a similar plan, but they only gave me 600 minutes (For two phone lines.)

We never really go over, it would just be nice for those extra minutes tho.

Overall, I haven't been too happy with them. For over a year, they kept on overbilling me because I was on the wrong plan. Like clockwork, I had to call them each month and get it straightened out. They never could fix it in thier stupid systems.

But I'm still with them....why? I dunno. They have fixed the problems, and offer me some decent promotions when I call.

With which rate plans? We have three lines on an outdated FamilyTalk Preferred Nation plan (until my mother upgrades to GSM) and they all share rollover minutes.

Good Lord No!

I was just about to go to bed, but this actually made me stop and post something.

My experience with them was ok until a point. Then, they double-billed me, and invented a 100-minute phone call that I supposedly made in the middle of the day. (Interestingly, the person who I called was ALSO on Cingular and the charge didn't show up on his account.)

Anyway, after dealing with their support staff (in what was truly the worst customer service experience of my life--yelling at your customer over the phone doesn't win you any points) [EDIT: I delt with four people in two different call centers; all were uniformly curt and rude], I finally got through to someone in their management system--after he spent 2 minutes on the phone with me, he proptly avoided my calls, and had his secretary tell me he wasn't in. -- At this point, the billing errors were (mostly) fixed--I just wanted them to know what a bad operation was being run in customer service. From all indications, they couldn't care less.

Anyway, Cingular is absolutely horrific. I hate them. HATE them. T-Mobile is much, much nicer to deal with--both in their stores and on the phone. (They helped me through a rough transition between a single-and-family talk plan, and gave me two free months of service because of their computer glitch) Ask their reps if they can do something to match the price/throw in a free phone, something--if you ever have to deal with customer support, you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Please don't go with Cingular. If you do, Lord help you if you ever have a problem.... [Another EDIT: I'm in Atlanta as well--as if you couldn't tell by the name.] Good luck.
