To those out there with an Asus A8V Deluxe mobo

I installed this great mobo about 6 days ago. I am getting pop-ups about 2 unkown devices and I have cool and quiet turned off in the bios, onboard sound turned off. All peripherals are properly installed. Is there a driver for winxp for the actual AMD64 processor? I can't fathom what these two devices are.

What version of windows (XP I assume, but which SP). I installed SP2 on mine, and I don't get any unknown devices.

There is a AMD64 Processor driver, but if you are not using Cool&amp;Quiet then the default XP one should work (at least there is one in SP2, maybe not in < SP2).

Maybe the promise raid controller? You can turn that off in the bios too if you are not using it.

If you go to device manager, sometimes it will show which type of device is unknown, like it knows well enough that it is a network card, but just not which type. Do you see anything there.

I think the reason you are not getting more responses is because you need to give more details.

Sounds like the SATA controllers? There are 2, one is VIA and the other is Promise. On mine, in Devie Manager, there's one yellow question mark icon for "RAID Controller" under "Other Devices"...which I know is the Promise controller, since I have SATA drives connected to the VIA controller. So I agree with GabeyD that its most likely the SATA/RAID controllers. No need to worry about it. But please offer more information.

it was my ati rage theater chip and a wdm driver.

My promise is disabled along with cool&amp;quiet

I have a a8v too. Is it better to use the promise for raid or the other one Via??

most ppl say that sata-raid arrays work better on promise controller.
