To those that have gone on cruises...

Lola and Lolawiz are probably the masters of cruising on ATOT, but in short I'd think it's appropriate. I also think you have a lot of misconceptions as most people do. On our first cruise my expectations were blown away and all misconceptions put to bed. We had a great time. We're going on another cruise from San Juan in February.

I go with my wife, and I'd say it's very romantic. We spend a lot of our time just sitting on the balcony (I'd definitely suggest a balcony room if you can), eating, having a drink, reading, etc. The formal dinners are very nice, the shows/activities/casino/etc. are fun. It's like a floating Vegas with changing scenery and a more classical atmosphere.

Finally, I wouldn't expect to save much. Our little 7 day vacations seem to cost us anywhere from $3k-4k no matter what we do. Unless you get an inside stateroom, limit your excursions, drinking and other activities you won't likely save much. The upside to cruising is the changing atmosphere, the ability to see more than you would if you went to a single destination (do you plan on flying to 4+ different countries?) and, for us, just pure relaxation with an ocean view and no obstructions.

You're the pro. I was saying from my experience when I went to the Mediterranean and sailed from Spain on Royal Caribbean.

The wife and I enjoyed our cruise but I would never encourage one for a honeymoon. As a previous poster stated the walls are paper thin and you can hear everything going on around you. Just wasn't conducive to a honeymooner sex life
