To toss this board or not to,that is the question.

Think about October or so of last year i got this pos board,being the ga-h61m-ds2 which is officially discontinued on newegg and here is my case for the jury to decide....

Random hard locks and program crashs,possibly failing sata ports?

Random hard lock at bios screen

nagging bios configuration errors on random restarts despite no change or incorrect settings.

Random bios resets and yes i have checked out the cmos battery and replaced it,this issue is relatively new.

Wonky issues with usb keyboards and mouses,anything usb powered.


What cha guys think,candidate for worst motherboard ever or worth tossing?

Unreliable = bad in every sense, imho. Recycle it, don't look back.

Well it had been out for over a year, so I don't think everybody thought it was crap. Are you running the latest BIOS on the board (F9 dated 4/9/13)?

As much as i would like to think its the bios needing a update from version f7 to fix these issues,i doubt it would as when i first got this motherboard none of these issues existed period and as far as memory and processor goes it hasn't changed as also any of the settings in the bios.

When my new board which i have ordered comes in,i may flash this one to f9 but right now with the trio of issues i won't chance a possible bricked board due to any possible instabilities a flash could bring.

Thread is more of has anyone seen this kinda behavior before out of no where as i never had a motherboard fail on me before,but i did have one board pop every single usb and ps2 port requiring a replacement

Well if the new board fixes all the issues then RMA the board and either sell or keep as spare.

rma it. gigabyte is based on serial number. service is A++.

turn around time is about 2-3 week including shipping time.

What trouble shootin have you done on it, have you switched the power supply out? Memory swap? Try a different hard drive?

Nothing spare here to even test anything out with,the new motherboard when it is here is basically the first troubleshooting of any kind.

Wanna actually use my current board for a new build for my wife,so hoping i can resolve this issue with as little frustration as possible so the board can be used for her build when my new board is here.

I have had problems like you are describing turn out to be a faulty mem chip or bad sectors in hard drives, etc.. even faulty PSU's, how big is the one you are using?

I have had problems like you are describing turn out to be a faulty mem chip or bad sectors in hard drives, etc.. even faulty PSU's, how big is the one you are using?

I did pick up another motherboard and put the same hardware into it with zero issues,heck i was having issues with my left speaker being incredibly low and i was sure it was busted and with the board swap,the sound on that speaker is restored to match the right suggesting a faulty audio port as well?

Sending the board in for a rma for sure.

Hmm, I would imagine with the number of problems you have with that board that they are related. I would take a guess and say there is a common denominator, possibly a faulty voltage circuit or something, maybe one area on the PCB that has a malformation causing all the erratic problems.

Or simply the chipset failing since it runs the SATA and USB ports.
