What is the advantage of a matched pair like this?
Would I see any benefit in my Abit NF7-s 2.0?

Currently I'm running 1 x 512mb Buffalo Tech CH-5

It depends mainly on what you use your machine for. But yes, you will definetely notice an improvement when your doubling your RAM. Especially if you play games.

From reading that XMS vs. Value select I would agree. however, there have been posts that this year's value select overclocks quite well.

Yup...all my VS purchases in 2006 have managed to run at least 236MHz 2.5-3-3-5-1T 2.6Vdimm (memtest and prime stable). This industry is very competitive. I would guess that other value RAMs from Kingston, GEIL, Micron may do the same. However, I'm sticking with VS until I see a drop in quality.

It's hard to beat 1GB of DDR470 for $58 after rebate.

Kingston Value RAM, at least that manufacturered this year is crap. It wouldn't even do 1T at stock, as you probably saw my other post. I exchanged it for another stick and it was the same story. Stay away from Kingston ValueRAM.

Where do you get 1GB of DDR470 for $58AR?
