This is a repost of this deal, but if you have both OD and Fry's in your city, you can price match to make it $20 better, so I hope it's worth a new thread.

Office Depot has this drive for 109.84 - $30 Maxtor MIR - $10 OD MIR.
Fry's ad shows the same drive for $84.99 - $30 Maxtor MIR.

I bought bought the drive at Office Depot, price matched to Fry's, and used a $20 off $75 coupon (Don't ask. You'll just get the thread locked. Get them at the ususal places). It was already a great deal, but when everything printed out, they gave me both MIR's. The deal:

$84.99 (price match) - $20 coupon - $30 MIR - $10 MIR = $24.99 + tax on $64.99. I paid $72 even out the door in CA and have $40 coming back.

The pricematch does not work. Office Depot says it is not possible to pricematch an electronics store.

wow office depot sounds like bullsh*t, a store is a store regardless of what it sells, and as far what i know, nowhere does the PM policy restrict it from "electronics" stores, besides since when wasn't a HD an electronic device? so if office depot sells it then it should PM other stores that sells the same item

The online coupons exclude technology items so they cannot be used on this deal..:brokenheart:

i forget the exact wording, but i remember last time i was there they had some disclamer on their pm policy about matching non-office supply stores. something like a $30 max or the like.

lol thx guys, i have found these, but what i'm talking about is how you USE them, do i just tell the clerk / cashier the coupon # and they will deduct 20 bucks and whatnot? or do i have to print some sort of page out that indicates a coupon and it will say limit per customer and whatnot?! (i dont see how they can restrict the limitation as you can keep on printing them out, but do u still need to show them some sort of proof or can you just tell them the coupon #??)

hope somebody can reply to this asap

willboxer, slow down man and breathe. This is a discussion forum man, not a chat fast. This deal was created by an Elite member with sharp mind. Harvey was kind enough to lead us to it now it's up to us to be cool, employ savy, lay low man so nobody knows we where once a skidmark. I'm doing you a favor boxer. Now drop the stick and pick up the pen. Then
give this a good read and re-enter the forum. Thanks man, welcome aboard.

so how does one use this coupon??
Hey -- This is easy, this is legit, and I did it without trying to scam the store. To use an online coupon number from officemax.com:

1. Go to www.officedepot.com/offers/save.do

2. Enter the coupon number in the window. If the code is good, the next screen will show the value. If not, it will report that the code is not valid.

3. Click "View Cart" on left of screen. If you have not previously been to this url, it will ask you to enter your ZIP code.

4. The next screen will show more info about your coupon number, including the number, the value, and the expiration date.

5. Print this screen < Ctrl + P >.

This printed page is your proof of the valid coupon number. If you do this on the day you're going to the store, the date at the bottom of your printout will be more proof that it is current. If they question it because it is an online coupon, just point out that you could order the same thing from Officemax.com for in-store pickup. It will still be up to the individual manager, but I have done this many times with OD, and it has always worked for me.

I've found that honesty and openness work well to get a store manager on your side. I don't wait to spring it on them at the last moment. In fact, I usually call ahead to ask if they will accept coupon I want to use with the item I want to buy, and I write down the name of the person who approved the deal. For good measure, I also ask them to check stock and to hold the item I want to make sure I get it.

If they agree, it doesn't hurt to thank them. If the salesperson or manager is into their computers, I'll even ask if they want some easy tips to help them, such as turning them on to Ad-Aware (free spyware removal software) or info about which of their other products are good deals (Lite-On vs. other CDRW's, etc.). If they remember me for something positive, the next time they see me, the next deal will probably be even easier.

This is a very decent deal even without the coupon. That was the deal in the other thread I linked at the start of this thread, and I only started this one after I had actually used the coupon. If it was only a possibility, I would have posted it in the other thread. If your store manager doesn't allow it, don't complain. You were just looking to make a good deal even better. If you didn't need a good 80 GB drive, you were wasting your time in the first place.

Now, please, get off the subject of coupons and back to helping others get the deal.

This deal didn't work out at the Austin OD locations - none will accept online coupons in-store.

The pricematch with Fry's is not a problem, however - after rebates, the drive would be $44.99 + tax. Not a bad price, but still higher than the usual $0.50/gig rates for the higher capacity drives.

Ah, well....
