First off, let me state that I do work for this company, get nothing from posting this, and it has been approved by a Mod.

Go to Motel 6's website and look up a city you are interested in. Click on the specific motel and then click the red "Rates and Availability" button. Select the dates and number of adults and then click on "Check Availability." Scroll to the bottom of the page to see the discount rates (on the motels I checked it was $33.99 instead of $39.99). Make your reservation!

A few things to save you some trouble:

READ the website FAQ, there is very important info contained in it
Print out the confirmation
Bring the above printout with you
Call a week before your check-in date to make sure that 1) rates have not changed and 2) they show your reservation in the system
Motel 6 charges by the number of adults, children under 17 are free.
If there is a single person checking in, you will be getting a queen bed, if it is more than one, you have a choice of two doubles or a queen.
The key is inserted with the text facing up and quickly removed before tha handle turns (similar to Texaco gas pumps a CC's)
I really wish people would remember the above.

Just something to think about when you check in, be nice, it matters.

We'll leave the....ah crap, been working here too long: P

I am NOT a representative of Motel 6. I work for them, but I can in no way gaurentee anything. If there are questions about anything, feel free to e-mail/pm me and I will do my best to point you in the right direction. Another good place to send questions is our 800 number which is 800-4-MOTEL6.

since you work for Motel 6, can you tell us the origin of their name?
hint: they should be called "Motel 60" today

No AAA discount? I am actually looking for a hotel on the night of the 30th. SO $50 to stay at Motel6, or spend $10 more and stay at a Marriot in the same area? Hmmm...tough decision there.o

OOhhh, thats a tough one. Could it be cause they used to charge 6 bucks for their rooms? Damn, you had me stumped for a while, but then I fell down the stairs and on to my face and all of a sudden it hit me. That hint was especially helpful.

I like motel 6. In July, I stayed at the Motel 6 on Industrial in Vegas. I stayed there on a weekday for 31.47 after taxes and everything. It was an internet special. The room was great because they were just renovated. Was walking distance to the strip. Good experience for me.

And therin lies the rub.

The last time I stayed at a Motel-6, I had made my reservations online. I did so after checking for the best price in the area and I made reservations because there was a big conference going on and I knew that all the motel/hotels would be sold out when I got there.

Well, I showed up to check into my room and the rate had changed. I showed the desk clerk my motel6.com printout, complete with the rate, but she said they had just changed the rates and wouldn't honor the printout. She told me that my "online reservation" only guranteed me the reservation for the room, not the price.

What a load of BS. I shouldn't have to "call a week before.... to make sure that [the] rates have not changed" I should be charged the rate that I was quoted when I made the reservation and entered my CC#

And what's the point of taking advantage of some online "hot deal" if the prices you'll pay don't necessarily reflect what you were quoted?

Yeah, that's what I thought when I first read it. If you reserve it online, you shouldn't have to call and hope you still have it and that it's the same price. What a scam if you ask me.

FYI, regardless you get the internet rate, even if it may be higher (I believe its a certain percentage).

You're saying for this deal in particular? Because it's certainly not "a given" in general. I didn't make up that story I posted, it's exactly what happened. Since they had changed their rates, I had to pay the higher amount, period. It didn't matter what my printout said.

FWIW, the higher amount was only an extra $5/day, but it doesn't matter. I was quoted a price, I had proof of what I was quoted, but had to pay the "new rate", which was more than what I was quoted.

And since you enter your CC# on the webwsite to "hold" the room and not to "pay for" the room, you can't even claim that they overcharged you. I still stay at Motel6's because they're frequently the cheapest, but I won't even bother reserving online. It was a waste of my time and energy and just made me think I was getting a rate that I wasn't.
