Thank you for the summary.
I pulled the back unit out of the sub but I had no idea what the hell I was looking for (yes, a fuse, but I mean, what it looks like). I saw nothing that resembled any kind of enclosure with a small piece of wire in it that might be broken now. Can you direct me what kind of device to look for?
Then, assuming the fuse is not the problem, can someone detail what my other option is to fix the Klipsch besides getting the amp replaced? Something about a receiver and a tuner? But if the amp was the problem wouldn't just that need replaced. I'm not sure if I'd want to buy my own and get a local shop to put it in, instead of just buying a new system.

I've been told on the Klipsch forums that if a fuse was the problem the speaker system would most likely not be working at all. And my set is definitely out of warranty.
So, I checked out my employee accomodations for Best Buy, and it turns out I can get the z-5500 for $199 + $42 shipping + tax, and I can get the ProMedia Ultra 5.1 for $250 SHIPPED, and no tax. So I guess that's pretty much a no-brainer, eh? Unfortunately it says the Klipsch can take 2-4 weeks for delivery, so I guess I have to get it shipped straight to college.

Well, actually, I ended up getting the Logitechs! Let me explain. As I mentioned earlier, the Klipsch set would've been $250 for me. However, I want it to be warrantied for at least three years, so that would require paying an extra $41 to Visa. So then we're up to almost $300. Then, it would take two to four weeks to get delivered, so I'd have to get it shipped to college and not to home. Unfortunately, it said on the form that if you require delivery anywhere beyond your front door, an extra shipping charge of $40 would apply. Now, I'm not sure of how shipping and receiving work at my school, or where delivery guys drop off packages or anything, but I'm almost positive that $40 fee would have applied. So I might've been looking at almost $340 total for the purchase. I could've gotten it shipped to home, but that would require a) coming again very soon after going back up to school, or b) waiting until spring break to get my system, neither of which I want to do.
So I saved $60-$100 and just went with the z-5500 from Amazon for $229.99 shipped. That's a great deal, and even if the sub doesn't have quite the "punch" of the Klipsch sub and is a little boomier, I'm sure I'll still be plenty satisfied with this system.
Yep, because what they lack is minor, and they sound great, and with the great price and after selling some Klipsch parts, I only paid $180.Originally posted by: YOyoYOhowsDAjello
I'm glad you like them.
So if you had to do it over again you'd pick the Logitechs again?
