I'm too busy learning coding and having skills that make 6 figures. You know... priorities.

That's because reading in schools these days is garbage. When I was in school, we read classics. Can't do that anymore, especially if it's stuff written by dead white guys. And yes, that's the case. My two younger kids brought home what they were reading and by-and-large, it was pure dreck. My kids thought so too.

Yaaayyyyy!!!!! I got my first dislike reaction from some whiny little twat that never even bothered to post in this thread. Never even replied to my post indicating why he got so butt-hurt. I'll give props to Bobo for asking me why and I provided direct evidence from my 2 youngest kids - who attended a very highly rated school, btw. So pete6032, why don't you man up and at least reply to this thread or tell me why you disagree.
So, to the forum elites, if I get too many reds, do I have to go out on the apology tour? If my reds reach a certain amount, so I get thrown out of certain establishments who only cater to the greens? If my reds get too high, do I go the re-education, aka, get an electro-lobotomy? If I stay red and am a minority on the forum, do I get to claim minority status and get political protection. If I start acting like a green poster, am I guilty of green cultural appropriation? Should we start a red studies program in universities? Wow, the implications of redness / greenness could be immense.

I think people misunderstood what I meant. I never said history in of itself wasnt important.If you told this to me at a job interview, there is a roughly 0.0 percent chance I'd hire you. In fact the average salary at my company is solid six figures and I doubt very many people have this attitude that they exist solely to make money. Sounds like a recipe for an unhappy life and an unpleasant person to work with.
In the past year or two in school, my kid read Romeo and Juliet and Animal Farm. To my knowledge, both written by dead white guys.
They did also read some modern young adult fiction.
