I blame it on the crappy rebate companies that don't send you your rebate even when you fill out your rebate claim perfectly. If I always got my rebates back I wouldn't hate them so much.

That's only happened to me with some cheesy I/O Magic rebate and a relatively small $7 rebate on Khypermedia CD-R's. I have good luck with rebates, so it's not an issue. And yes, I follow the directions

On the postive side, stacking up on stuff, couponing, then getting all the rebates back is better than no rebates. Those 30 off 150 etc coupons are so much more powerful because stuff costs a lot before rebate.

Another perspective: would you rather buy a $80 hard drive with a $30 rebate from Compusa or the same $80 hard drive from Newegg with no rebate? It's only with the rebate that you get low prices. It's getting extra money back that you couldn't have acquired before.

Yeah you cut off the UPC from the box the car came in and mail it to GM, and they send you a $4000 cheque.

I sent in a $7 AT&T rebate one day late and they sent me back a card saying it was to late, I called AT&T and canceled my long distance with them.

Do you think it was worth the $7 on there part to keep a customer ??????

Tax and reg fees are calculated on the price before rebate. Then the rebate is deducted from the total.... dealers call it "cash on the hood".

I sent in a $30 rebate to Circuit City and they replied I had not sent the receipt, which was not true in first place. The letter said I had 10 days to resubmit. The letter arrived on the 10th day. I was very mad when I called them, but at least they didn't argue and said I have to wait another 6 weeks... These little "errors" are the source of their profit.

as of today I will not purchase anything that has any kind of mail rebate attached to it. Fine it might cost me a few dollars here and there...but is it really worth it??

IF the product is so great that it deserves a rebate, why not just a discount.

Why must they earn interest on my money, when I earn nothing!!
