January 16, 1984 - Macintosh Software Finished
Just eight days before the Macintosh was due in computer stores around the country, and one week before a $500,000 commercial was set to air to millions of Super Bowl viewers, the Macintosh word processor, MacWrite, was sent out for production. Despite round-the-clock testing and fixing, the software still crashed the morning it was to be shipped out. By the end of the day, exhausted programmers had produced a relatively stable version of MacWrite.

The Chevrolet Corvette was introduced at a show car at New York?s Waldorf-Astoria Hotel. The car became an American classic almost instantly. Its sporty fiberglass body didn?t look like anything else on the road, and although some car buffs criticized the sportscar for being underpowered, that didn?t stop Corvettes from speeding off the showroom floors.
