Not going to talk about fault until after it is sorted out by insurance. It doesn't look like they'll total it but I sure hope they do with that level of damage. T-boned at 35mph or so, pushed through a fire hydrant and light pole. Everyone involved is relatively ok, I'm unbelievably sore and my arm is pretty chopped up from the glass, and my girlfriend has a headache from hitting the a-pillar.

Yours was the convertible ? Sure looks like a total to me. Damage to both doors, probably the frame rail, unibody and who know what else (you said it hit a hydrant).
As to the other car, also looks totalled. Good luck.

Yeah, mine was the Sky. The other car was a GS400 and looked like he'll need at minimum a new front end. The impact didn't make it to the motor and his airbags didn't deploy strangely enough.

That's not right. The bags should have deployed on that for sure. I wonder what's up with that?

Yikes, well I'm pleased to hear that you're healthy and relatively unscathed.

On the fun side of things, you can start to make mental plans for the inevitable replacement vehicle.

Yeah, I was buying a new car in the next 2 months anyways. Oh well.

Yeah, I was really surprised

If he hit you at 35mph, it doesn't sound like your fault at least.

Wow, that is a strong door.

doors are often reinforced with high strength steel beams - either UHSS (ultra-high-strength-steel) or TRIP (transformation-induced plasticity) steels. both are incredibly strong and can absorb a lot of energy.

Looks like frame damage in the doors, gonna get totalled.

Glad you and your girlfriend aren't seriously injured. that soreness is just gonna get worse over the next few days. Make sure your g/f gets checked out for a concussion.

ok now that I got the human part out of the way, let's get the car part in

replacement?!

So is your GF going to get a MRI or something? I would think the headache could be serious

The docs on the scene did concussion tests and such. Said that she was fine and for both of us to give it a day or two unless anything hurt too bad. I'm more and more sure I fractured a rib on one of the second impacts (I've done that before, know what it feels like) but they can't do anything for a fractured rib other than wrap it and give me pills anyways.

Four seats, hopefully a V8, not sure if a big coupe or sedan yet. Not another vert this time. I have one or two in mind

Check your policy for PIP, also get checked out by a decent chiropractor, not only will you get some good treatment, but you will get rather significantly reimbursed above and beyond. If you know a lawyer that handles this stuff, the sooner you contact the better.

Also important, as sore as you are now, you may notice even worse things going forward. Being thrown violently from side to side is hell on the body, especially when the seats and design of cars offers little protection from extreme movement from the hips on up.

Yeah, I'm going to be giving you a yell later about yours. I've had good luck with one in Rockwall in the past, but no reason not to try someone else out. I'm just resting and taking a wait and see approach until the adrenaline is flushed out and I'm sure about what all hurts.

Already contacted the family lawyer who will handle it if it comes down to it. My insurance company (Nationwide) has been nothing but good to me at this point.

You'll both be more sore tomorrow. After that it should start to get better.

Glad you're both okay!

Fuck dude I'm sorry, we all know you love that car.

Yeah... I'm mildly considering a V though, so I might be in the blown V8 club soon

Otherwise, I'll fall back and talk to my buddy who owns the Mercedes dealership and do an E or E coupe. The deals he gives me are too good to pass up. I'm getting tired of the tiny cars for the time being.

Wow, how far were you guys pushed? Any accident where you can walk away is a good accident (if accidents can be considered good).

his airbags didn't deploy strangely enough.

They won't at low speeds.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airbag#Triggering_conditions
Unlike crash tests into barriers, real-world crashes typically occur at angles other than directly into the front of the vehicle, and the crash forces usually are not evenly distributed across the front of the vehicle. Consequently, the relative speed between a striking and struck vehicle required to deploy the airbag in a real-world crash can be much higher than an equivalent barrier crash. Because airbag sensors measure deceleration, vehicle speed is not a good indicator of whether an airbag should have deployed.
