Yeah this deal is good but the lappy is neutered. I posted THIS deal yesterday LOADED and it comes to only $1193. I mean who's going to get a system like this and only get a CD-ROM? I don't think this system is going to be as heavy to carry around as people think. If you get the fixed DVD/CDRW and leave the floppy drive at home it won't be so bad.

actually, am i the only one that wants this neutered system? i was going to get this just for the screen itself and don't care for all the other stuff such as dvd, cdrw, and a large hard drive. for dvd: i would rather watch it in a hometheater environment; for cdrw and large hard drive: i like using the firewire connection for external use.

i was actually going to get this system and strip it down: take the fd, battery, and cdrom drive out and just use land power. that should cut down the weight a lot and just enjoy the crisp screen. but oh well, i don't have the dough for the stripped down version anyways, so there's no use wanting the loaded system.

Actually, not dead. The new rebate is til 4/24 and there is a free cd/rw update. I don't know about the %5 though. Can't seem to get that to work. I'm crying. Me bought yeaterday and paid for the upgrade.

It looks quite nice actually, but if it is too hard on your eyes, just turn it down.

The 1600x1200 is awesome, if it's too small, fixing it is just a matter of bumping up the font sizes in windows and in IE (making sure to ignore preset font sizes under accessiblility).

Just got my 8100 this morning, the UXGA screen looks very good.

Came out to $1289.00 before rebate. good deal, but i'm still thinking of returning it... was kind of an impulse buy!
