Your link needs editing.

Shows at $399.99. When will they be reducing the price (especially since this is a one day only deal)?

i used to think the phone was unbearably ugly. on second look this time it doesn't look that bad. i think cell phones are still too overpriced though. $40/mo x 12 = $480 ... that's not including going over and the applicable taxes and insurance ... i had one, gave it up, and found that life is grand without a phone in your pocket.

Hey just checked the link and they repriced it as 299.99 minus 300 in special offers. So it is FREE (ARs).

Just for anyone thats curious, I have T-Mobile with the v60 and live in W. LA. I get full reception almost everywhere I go. The only exception is that sometimes driving near the Santa Monica Mtns I get dropped, but then its back to full reception. Overall though, I'd recommend it, compared to my friends that have Sprint and AT&T.

It would have been a good deal were it not for that "with new activation" clause.

Btw, if current VS/T-Mobile customers wants to get in on this deal don't bother. I've called up and talked to almost a dozen CS Reps including those from the store itself and the answer is if you're a current customer and get a new line from VS/TM while cancelling your current line you're still considered a current customer.

If you think you can get away with having 2 lines, same thing. Current customer.

Their reasoning is the computer matches up your Social security #'s when being added to the system. If they see you're already there then you're not a new customer no matter how many lines you get.

Best bet is to either wait for the 90day gap after cancelling service or ask someone who's not a VS/TM customer to get service in your behalf.

Try this phone out somewhere before you buy. It's not for everyone. Sure, it looks cool, but I found the earpiece to be oddly shaped (I kept wanting to press it against my ear and was afraid I was going to break it). The screen is also very tiny. I think the V60 (cool phone, but not AS cool) is a lot more functional.

Also, TMobile's service stinks. their CS is OK, but their coverage is very spotty. I must have called 10 times about poor service and they just keep giving me free minutes.

rootaxs:
I'm not so sure current customers can't activate a new line. The $200 Amazon rebate explicitly states "If you already have an existing account and wish to obtain a second line of service, you will qualify for the rebate if you purchase or activate the phone with a new service plan."

The T-Mobile rebate does not state that it is "new customers only," merely that a >$34.99 plan must be purchased with it.

I sure hope you're right. VS CS reps told me it wouldn't work and though it would look like i'm a new customer the system would inform rebate clearing houses that i'm illegible for the rebates.

Perhaps the Amazon-specific rebate would work though.

Anyone who's a current customer who actually tried this and it went well?

Why would anyone get that when they could get a Sony Ericsson T68i for free after rebate (or for $50 with T-mobile) that has a slew of features, full color screen, cuter, and a better phone?" That phone is not worth $300 IMHO.

This is an incredible phone. By far the best cell phone I've ever had. Voice quality is astounding -- no one has any idea I'm on a cell. I highly recommend it.

I've read all the terms and conditions and it looks to me as if I'm eligible. The T-Mobile rebate form even instructs you in sending multiple rebate forms for different numbers ("Maximum of five rebate per name or address...")

And the Amazon one says explicitly that it's fine, so I'm going to assume that it will work. If they reject me, I'll be sure to fight it; since there's nowhere that says you can't be an existing T-mobile customer. If, in the long run, I don't get the $100 rebate, its still a good deal since I'm buying this phone to resell.

Nate

edit: And a note about >$34.99 activation: with T-mo you can change the rate plan at any time, so you can activate on the $39.99 plan and then drop down to the $19 or $29 plan after a month or two w/o contract extension.

very novel design! i still prefer their flip phones though. the retail price on this phone is really jacked up too. just makes the AR price look sweeter, i guess.

The t68i is also available at Best Buy for $49 after $50 MIR (from Ericsson) for ATT service.

I just snagged one - expected to be sent out Nov.6. Personally I think the Sony Ericsson t68i looks terrible. The color screen is cool, and navigation button is nice, but it just looks kind of fat and stumpy. I also find that talking on a flip (or swivel) phone just seems more comfortable.

When Motorola first released this phone in Hong Kong (early this year I think) they were going for $1100 each, and everywhere was selling out. I'm glad I'm not paying that much for mine.

Guys,

Are both rebates associated with a service contract or is the $200 Amazon MIR available without having to get a new plan from T-Mobile? I ask because I already have T-Mobile on my Nokia 8890 and wouldn't mind all too much to spend $200 on this phone and use it for a back-up.

I was going to get this phone but the personal-info-for-credit-checking they asked
stopped me cold. I think they have no business asking for one's social security,
birthdate and driver's license. Armed with this info a hacker or one of their workers could
impersonate you and ruin your life. We all know that it's not safe to store these
personal info in a database online. And worse, a lot of companies are pretty careless
about protecting their online database. I think a credit card w/ $25K should be sufficient
to qualify one for a cell phone and service plan!

hmmmm, I'm seriously looking into this phone too, but $300 before rebate is so high.....the guy at the mall said I could get it for $200 with $100 MIR.....and it's between this and the T68i, but the V70's just so damn slick, and I don't need the calender and blah blah blah on the T68i, since I have a PDA already. Hopefully I'll pick it up in a week!
