I always see these commercials talking about how soft their TP is and how good it feels blah blah blah. Do people really care that much? I buy TP from Costco the Marathon brand, its fine, its not like I run around with TP stuck up there for comfort, wipe and done.

Makes a difference if you get pieces stuck up there. Some people have hairy butthole areas.

Yep I care. I hate the lint/pieces of to soft and low quality paper.

Quilted Northern use to be great but they have dropped a lot in quality. We also used scotts soft TP but it also seems more linty now.

Using Charmin strong now. Still soft but no lint.

Cheap TP sucks. You need a giant wad of it to absorb your poop, whereas you only need 3 sheets with the good stuff. Also, softness matters. I don't like sandpaper on my butthole. And if you're feeling particularly bad, with frequent trips to the toilet, then irritation is likely to occur when you whipe with cheap TP that resembles recycled tree bark. Some nice, fluffy, aloe-vera infused TP is perfect for the active booty. Keeps your hands free from a mess, too. It won't break, slipping your fingers directly onto doodoo.

Buy good TP.

I don't care about brand, as long as it's not the cheapest stuff out there

Cheap TP is awful. A person's class in society is decided by the kind of TP they buy. Don't be a peasant

3 sheets? Screw that, I want protection on my hands from a larger amount.

After using sand paper at work all day, I take comfort in knowing that I have heavenly soft two-ply TP waiting for me at home.

I bought some cheap 2 ply once when the store was out of the usual brand. The one thing I was surprised at was how long it lasted. I think we get Charmin soft or somethign like that but the paper is "spongy" and soft and only needs 2 or 3 sheets to wipe properly. The cheap roll needs like 4-6 sheets for adequate protection but it lasted almost 2 weeks!

Sounds like charmin strong. We dumped the quilted northern junk and use Charmin now.

Most of the time it doesn't matter, but I have had bouts of frequent crapping that required decent toilet paper to avoid coming out with a bloody asshole.

When its that bad, I just resort to not even wiping with TP. I get in the shower and aim the hand nozzle right at the dirty area and wash with moisturizing soap. Far better when you have the runs to clean that way than TP. When you are sick like that, even wiping with a silk handkerchief will still feel like 80 grit. This is why I love bidets; you can use that instead of needing to use the shower.

If somewhere that doesn't allow you to shower, take some baby wipes along.

We get the Charmin Ultra from Costco.

I'm too furry for just TP though. Baby wipes after the preliminary TP wipe. :awe:

Your argument fails for one reason. Costco invests a lot of money in TP research and manufacturing. I'm not joking. The CEO has stated that there are a few key products that Costco has taken seriously for vertical integration....they start with the manufacturing process and take it all the way to the consumer. They try to get people to continue membership based on those key products...

If you were using some discount product with 1-ply sheets that tear unexpectedly where the sheets are not perforated, it would make a bigger difference.

TP is a lot like fabric softener or detergent. People select it based on a combination of price, perceived value, and perceived quality....after using the product, they will either continue use or search for a new product if it didn't meet their standards.

I always wonder though if someone wasn't truly happy with their TP if they would continue use of the roll or mutter, "I wouldn't wipe my ass with this stuff" and throw it away.
