Yep I care. I hate the lint/pieces of to soft and low quality paper.

Quilted Northern use to be great but they have dropped a lot in quality. We also used scotts soft TP but it also seems more linty now.

Using Charmin strong now. Still soft but no lint.

I used to be a faithful QN user, until they fucked it up.
Also using Charmin Strong, now.

I wouldn't mind something less soft, as long as it leaves me clean. Haven't found anything that meets that criteria.

I hate using those moist wipes, but sometimes you just gotta.

I certainly go a step up from the low-grade TP at work, but don't see the point in spending tons of money on the stuff, since you end up taking a dump at work half the time anyway. Do you guys bring your Über-paper to work with you or something?

Angel Soft for me. It's a good balance of comfort and price.

Target brand,
but I think it's clogging the sewer pipe. Apparently, "strong" TP like Charmin is bad for plumbing.

after a Consumer Reports article, I actually switched to the Walmart store brand and like it a lot. I feel like I end up having to use less, and the OCD part of my brain loves the fact that it always rips evenly instead of leaving the roll hanging with half a sheet of TP. (I buy the Great Value stuff; I've never seen White Cloud in any of my local Walmarts.)

I still hate shopping at Wally World, but I'll suck it up and go every couple months just to stock up on TP since it's on my way home from work anyways.

I use plain old scott to get the bulk off and then I use a huggies wipe to clean. Best combo.

I actually mostly select my TP on whether it features flushable rolls. 3 layers is great, so I only need to sheets to have sufficient strength not to have it rip and get my finger tips coated in excrement.

Also, I wonder whether this thread gets axed under the controversial bowel movement thread ban.

Your argument fails for one reason. Costco invests a lot of money in TP research and manufacturing. I'm not joking. The CEO has stated that there are a few key products that Costco has taken seriously for vertical integration....they start with the manufacturing process and take it all the way to the consumer. They try to get people to continue membership based on those key products...

If you were using some discount product with 1-ply sheets that tear unexpectedly where the sheets are not perforated, it would make a bigger difference.

TP is a lot like fabric softener or detergent. People select it based on a combination of price, perceived value, and perceived quality....after using the product, they will either continue use or search for a new product if it didn't meet their standards.

I always wonder though if someone wasn't truly happy with their TP if they would continue use of the roll or mutter, "I wouldn't wipe my ass with this stuff" and throw it away.

I didn't know I had an argument. I am just saying I buy the Marathon brand. I dont however see a commercial for something like Charmin which may or may not be better, then go buy it cause it might be softer.

I don't settle for cheap TP. Thicker and softer is better. If other people want to scrape their arseholes with scratchy paper that's their business.

Yes I care!

I will not buy anything but good TP. Who cares about your butt, I care about my hand. I will pay an extra $.05 per wipe to have a poop free hand.

it certainly matters. if someone doesn't care about toilet paper, they almost certainly don't/can't discern a difference in anything else, and are perfectly happy eating all sorts of unnatural garbage.

I don't care, to a certain extent. I don't feel a need to buy the best stuff, but I don't go for the bottom of the barrel either. The girlfriend likes a specific brand (Scott) so that's what I get.

The Willow brand that Aldi sells does a fine job. Much better than the sandpaper we have at work.

Oh yes, if there is one thing i hate is washing my hands with bleach after i bought cheap toilet paper. The kind that breaks and rips apart while wiping.
I always by the 2 ply version but only use 3 pieces of paper at once per wipe for a perfect shiny and clean hiney.

Wiki for toilet paper :

Toilet paper is a soft tissue paper product primarily used for the cleaning of the anus to remove fecal material after defecation or to remove remaining droplets of urine from the genitals after urination, and acts as a layer of protection for the hands during this process.

Who writes this...

I like Scott's, sure it's thin 2 ply but you get a shitload on one roll plus sometimes when you get one of those "perfect" turds that just slides out with little or no mess you can scale back the Scott's and save, if it's a messy affair then use a bigger wad. The softest brands tend to just mash it around so you have to go back 2-3 times to make sure you got it all..
