I'm sure that there will be people that said that I went to far and maybe I did, but this girl had it coming...

Ok.. I'm a special education major at Rowan University in NJ. I'm going to be graduating soon. One of the requirements that we havr to fulfill is to work with special education children at a public school that is assigned to you. We'll I had to go to this particular school that range from grades K-6.

I've been to this school in the past. Not a bad school, but definitely not the best. Today I was working with students in a small classroom that suffer from multiple disabilities. It's a great class and I love the students. Today seemed like it was going to be a normal day.

So.. as the day progressed I was engaged in work. I had to use the bathroom as I entered the schools hallway I noticed this girl. She looked young. 16-17 yrs. old at the most. She was slouched over talking with her friend. As I got closer to them, I overhead her saying "Look at this loser." Then I heard her friend say "haha loser.. bet he doesn't get laid." And they said this when I went by and it was loud enough for me to clearly hear what they said. So I was like "f**k them" and moved on. When I left the bathromm they continued to talk sh!t "f***in idiot, haha ewww... he's ugly" Keep in mind that I have a good loking girl friend and I don't consider myself that bad looking. And I delibertly stopped and got something to drink and they still kept it up. :Q

Then I was like you know screw these inbred hicks and I turned around and said and pointed right at the girl "allright your here for you kid?" She said "yea." Then I asked how old she was. She was like "seventeen" The I laughed "haha loser." Then I said "let me ask you this? Your 17 yrs old and you have a kid? You don't consider yourself a loser?" She said "No." And I said "but you are." Then I said "lets compare me and you."

Me: I have a $2,000 computer.. I'm in a University and I'll be graduating soon, my dad makes over $100,000, I drive a new car, my sister works for Harvard, and on and on... I did this for about 3 minutes.

You: You have a child and your young... Your at a huge disadvantage and your going to be working in Burger King. You have no education, and your parents must be uneduacted. Then I said.. You know the you just reinforce my belief. Then I said.. the people that would be great parents can't have kids. And that's the gay male. I went into it.. The gay male makes great money but can't reproduce, but hicks like you have multiple children and we have to pay for your children. Then I snickered.. What an idiot. Maybe I'll give you a job and you can do my laundry.

She was in frekin shock! I laughed all the way to the classroom .

If I was actually teaching a special education classroom I would never go this route. I'm sure that I would be punished. So I would just bite my tounge.

But.. Im sick and tired of people talking sh!t about me and I do nothing! IM SICK OF IT! I didn't ask to be degraded by some fu*kin hick, because that's what she is. She had no right to talk to me that way.

So for now on, if you wanna dish it out you had better be able to receive.

I hope you are more eloquent in the spoken word than you are in the written word, but you just made yourself sound like the loser she may have identified you as.

Now, that isn't to say she didn't have it coming, but you could be in serious trouble as that was extraordinarily stupid for a teacher to do. You won't be working there much longer if she complains.

It may not be his job title, but he is at some level a part of the institution.

You were both wrong. Her for being an immature little brat, you for thinking that the fact you: "have a $2,000 computer.. I'm in a University and I'll be graduating soon, my dad makes over $100,000, I drive a new car, my sister works for Harvard, and on and on..." makes you a better person than her.

I know some very successful, very intelligent, very "non-loserish" single mothers. None are 16-17, but still. I think you would have been the better and bigger person by keeping your mouth shut, or going about the situation differently.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

but he emphasized the age AND the single-motherism, not the single-motherism alone. so what he said would not have applied to the people you know.

great you told off a teenager.

I understand that you had a reason to be pissed but what's the point? Showing off your dad's income and 2k computer doesn't help you much. Afterall she was a teenager and thought she knew it all.

Ahh... the girl that I belittled isn't a student. She was picking up her child from one of the self contained classrooms. And if she complains then so be it. I'm leaving the school soon because my work is allmost completed. And I don't work for the school. I'm still a college student.

And as I stated, please excuse my grammer. I typed this thread pretty quickly so I wasn't worried about sentence structure. In fact, I just noticed a number of errors. I'm not going to edit my post though...

She's pretty much dead on.

And as someone else already said:

Congratulations on telling off a teenager.

Yes, there are some that need to be smacked because they're little brats. But it was not your position to do it.

BTW, if a 17 year old teenage mother can evoke that reaction out of you, you might want to re-evaluate your own maturity.

Fair enough, but don't be surprised if this comes back to haunt you.

Hopefully the tongue lashing you gave her makes her reevaluate her life. Doubtful, but one can hope.

You guys weren't there so you really don't know what happened. I'm telling you what happened but you had to be there because she was Fu**IN NASTY to me! So was trying to belittle me and I said to myself enough is enough. Maybe I could have handled it better, but guess what... She had it coming.

Get used to it, dearie. Remember to consider the source, and it will be easier to shrug it off.

Dealing with the parents is part of the package... and unfortunately, you will run across MANY parents who are like this girl. Worse even. We lost a student last week because her mom had to go to a domestic abuse shelter. We may never see her again.

You will deal with parents who want you to jump when they say jump but can't even see to it that their kids have clean clothes. You'll find that all the hard work you do during the day gets undone as soon as the kid gets home to mom and dad, who are drunk/self-involved/otherwise not fit to be parents. And these people will tell you to your face that they will have your job on the line in a heartbeat. You need to check out the legal section of your professional agreement... you will probably find that the system is geared towards parents, not teachers. True. Sad, but true.

You are going to have to decide if you can put up with this in the long term. I'm pretty good at simply shrugging it off and remembering that I am there for the kids, period. The kids are the only ones who will appreciate your efforts... and even then, it might be years before they realize that you were there for them.

IT DOESN'T MATTER!

You were completely out of line, & should be fired for it.
