This.

I'm rooting for the Niners though.

Peyton Manning's passer rating against the Ravens last week: 88

Tom Brady's passer rating against the Ravens today: 62

Someone choked alright, but it wasn't Manning.

LOL

Passer rating is a known joke but if your receivers start dropping critical third down passes FOUR TIMES chances are the "rating" will drop, besides, there is no effect on "rating" for throwing across your body in the opposite direction (ala Farve with Minn.) but there should be, I've seen HS QB's play smarter than that..

You're seriously complaining about Brady's receivers dropping passes? Does the name Lee Evans ring a bell?

The 1981 team had no running game and a unique passing game. The 1984 team was a great running team (Wendell Tyler and Roger Craig) with a similar, but not so unique, passing game from 1981. So those two teams were very different in that the 1981 team beat you in the air, exclusively. The 1984 team was able to get ahead and then run, run, run.

So that is 2 "different" teams.

The 1988 49ers had an almost entirely new roster from 1984 and barely made the play-offs, with a ton of injuries and inexperienced people playing a lot. They got hot and well at the end and won out.

So, 3rd "different" team.

The 1989 team had a new head coach, went fairly injury-free and basically was able to march through the season, running, short passing and long passing.

4th "different" team.

(I am not so sure your definition of a "different" team makes sense.)

I'm amazed by the amount of football trivia you guys know. Pulling up stats from the 80's?! Is that stuff you just have memorized, or looking up for the purpose of this discussion?

I think Brady is a very good top-tier QB, but I don't think he's the 'best'. There are a handful that were so damned good at the top of their game (SB or no SB, as was the case with early Elway having garbage for a team, or Marino for example) that it's really impossible to say who is the 'best'.

Any given Sunday, after all.

Manning didn't play in 25+ winds.

but the blizzard...with the snowplow, to clear the field for the Pats only....yes, Brady has never played in worse conditions and had the opportunity to play this poorly

One could argue that Manning playing in 13 degree weather is harder than Brady playing in winds in a stadium that he has played in his whole career. And the same wind that Flacco played in. The Ravens were just better this year. They were in position to get home field advantage before they were hit with injuries, so this shouldnt be that much of a surprise. Manning and Brady are still great QBs...no need to make excuses for the Ravens beating them.

Yes, but he got a bum rap IMO, he caught the ball but almost instantly Moore had his hands in there dislodging it, Welker dropped 2 third down passes killing drives, Loyd dropped 2 more. The Patriots are a team of precision, that's why they led the league in points this year, that sloppy play and a D that lost 2 crucial guys Aqib Talib and Kyle love on D meant we reverted to mid-season form, one of the worst pass defenses in the league..

At least know your history before you post, the "snowplow game" happened in 1982, Brady was about 11 and IIRC wasn't playing for the Patriots at the time.. :|

Tell that to ICF who was drooling on his keyboard waiting for the game to end so it could be labeled a "Brady" failure.

Is Brady's wife going to come out and blame the rest of the team for not doing their job like she did when Brady choked last year?

Not only that, but Pats fans were pointing and laughing at Luck's performance against the Ravens where Luck's receivers were dropping passes all day. So I'll repeat it:

Peyton Manning's passer rating against the Ravens last week: 88

Tom Brady's passer rating against the Ravens today: 62

Someone choked alright, but it wasn't Manning.

Maybe I should put that in my sig.

Pats fans sure can dish it out, but they can't take their own medicine.

Pats fans who posted with glee and happiness at Manning's latest "choke" (last week against the Ravens) have now suddenly disappeared and are probably rolled up in fetal positions around the Boston area. If they want to insist that Manning choked last week, then I want to hear them say Brady choked. After all:

Peyton Manning's passer rating against the Ravens last week: 88 (3 passing TDs)

Tom Brady's passer rating against the Ravens today: 62 (1 passing TD)

At least Manning and the Broncos scored more than 2 TDs and didn't roll over like a dead dog.

Instead, we get lame excuses like drops and the weather. Want to talk about drops? See: Andrew Luck vs. Ravens. And the weather excuse? Would these be the same Pats fans deriding Manning as a "dome" QB who can't win in adverse weather and then saying Brady could win in adverse weather? LOL. Oh yeah, forgot to mention one other thing:

Joe Flacco's QB rating against the Patriots yesterday: 106 (3 passing TDs)

I guess the wind magically died down when the Ravens offense was on the field?

Is Brady's wife going to come out and blame the rest of the team for not doing their job like she did when Brady choked last year?

I'm sure she will.

Guys, guys, settle down. They're both choke jobs. No need to split hairs over which one is the bigger choke artist.

Manning made a horrific decision in OT. I don't think a passer rating of 88 qualifies it as a "choke job" when your defense rolls over, however.

Firstly, I'm a jets fan, so I'm miserable regardless. But I lived in Boston from 97 to 08...and the one thing in able to surmise is the majority of current "Pats fans" couldn't name 5 players pre 2001. The jumped on the bandwagon, admittedly a great wagon, and since 2005 the havent been able to adjust to being the choking superstars. Once Brady becomes irrelevant, and you see how much he's hidden the damage Belichick has done to this team, you're going to see a dramatic drop in the arrogant Johnny come lately's.

I think the damage Belichoke has done to his team seems to be on the defensive side. I don't like him and think he is an asshole, but I think he has built a strong organization and system.

P.S. Off the top of my head, I can name several Pats player pre-2001 (all the way back to the 80s even) and I'm not even a Pats fan:

Steve Grogan
Tony Eason
Leonard Russell
Stanley Morgan
John Hannah
Sam Cunningham
Andre Tippett
Craig James

I could keep going....

So could I...that was my point. I mean, I think most big football fans could do that for just about every team.

And Belichik is supposedly a defensive genius, but in the early 2000's, the majority of that defense was drafted for him and he inherited it. Since then, it has fallen off precipitously. The offense is what has driven the Pats the last 7-8 years, and I assure you that is not Bill's doing. When Brady goes, the veil will be lifted. You're already seeing it in the form of big game chokes, where talent alone is tough to win on, and the other teams are putting together better gameplans.

Quoted for stupidity. Any winning team is going to have bandwagon fans. Lot's of new 49ers fans nowadays, are you going to whine about them in other threads?

I was a fan when they were 2-14, drafted Kenneth Sims as the #1 pick in the NFL, the beating by the Bears in the SB and have sat on the aluminum benches watching a pre-season game at old Shaffer(sp?) Stadium when Doug Flutie returned punts in order to make the team.

Belichick has done no damage to the team. And strong ownership will hopefully keep the team competitive after Belichick and Brady are gone.

Being a Jets fan, you should be embarrassed at your players, coach, management and ownership. Talk about ruining a team's history.
