With no evidence, sure. But we know the hate is so great against the Pats that Goodell was going to punish them without a single text or piece of evidence that proved that the balls were deflated illegally.

But we know that it's alright to tank a season and the integrity of the league to get the first pick of the draft. But it'll be fun, smashing the Colts into the ground next season. Instead of drafting Malcom Brown to strengthen their defensive line, they draft another WR.

Yeah, you caught them alright. It was all part of Polian and Caldwell's master plan to tank the season and get fired in the process. You're a goddamned genius, Gump! I personally think the NFL should've forced the Patriots to hire Ryan Grigson for their GM as their punishment. :awe:

Oh and don't worry, Carroll won't hand the game to the Patriots next time.

IMHO I thought 2 games would be plenty of punishment, why the Goodell had to reference "Spygate" which happened 7-8 years ago as "part of the punishment" is ridiculous IMO, they taped from an illegal spot and were fined and punished severely for that incident. Knowing full well BB and Kraft had no knowledge of what Brady and the other 2 stooges were up to I think it's unfair to take away upcoming draft picks as well.

When Irsay tells you to do something, you do it. And Polian and Caldwell received nice going away parachutes. I can't believe you don't think they tried to tank it. Yeah, that suck for Luck was just a joke.

They wanted the ratings bonanza of the Patriots facing the Colts on national TV on Brady's return. Call me cynical, but I believe that played a big part.

Maybe the play call in that spot was the wrong one but your discounting Butler's pick, you can't, as an NFL fan, not say that was the best defensive play in a SB, ever.

LOL, Irsay doesn't know his name half the time.

I really think you guys are very clueless and really don't know how bad the Colts REALLY were. They were TERRIBLE, old, and had no contingency plans at QB. The only semi-reasonable argument you could put forth as evidence for them intentionally tanking was Polian's insistence on starting Curtis Painter and believe me, that was his ego talking more than anything. Polian bragged about drafting Painter and thought he could be a starter. Yes, I'm serious.

It was an awesome play on his part -- not disputing that. But let's face it -- if Carroll calls the play that should've been called, Seattle wins.

Well, the man that wanted to see the Pats punished for deflate gate, doesn't follow you.

Local Indianapolis sports reporter Gregg Doyel, however, didn't need any "facts" or "proof" before offering his harsh verdict about the Colts' season-long attack on the fundamental integrity of the game. Said Doyel, "the NFL can't remove the Indianapolis Colts from the league. We all know that. The NFL should remove the Colts from the league – I truly believe that – but they won't. They can't. Here's what the NFL can do, and absolutely has to do: remove Colts coach Jim Caldwell and owner Jim Irsay from football, and not next season -- this season. Right now. This was the Indianapolis Colts rigging the entire 2011 season. What punishment, in the scope of sports, would be too severe for such a thing?"

Oh, I see -- so now Gregg Doyel (who said today "He got away with it. Tom Brady did. So did the Patriots. They got away with it, all of them, because what they did was cheat the Colts in the AFC championship game.") is now the beacon of journalistic integrity for you? So he must be right about the Patriots too!

Again, let's see the evidence. I'll be waiting here. Doyel is a blowhard.

Should have been eight games and then the arbitrator could knock it down to four.

That chart is terrible. Brady yards vs League average yards?

sorry, most of the league are scrubs. You have to put his yards/season against the averages of Manning, Brees, Rodgers (once he showed up), Warner, and I suppose Rivers.

Who am I missing? There is simply no perceivable advantage, as it would show up in data, that a deflated ball would give an elite passer like Brady over someone like, I dunno, David Garrard.

That, and the entire offensive system.

If we're using these text messages as evidence, then can we ask why the refs put the balls at 16 PSI, completely out of spec? The fact is no one (including the refs and by proxy the NFL) gave two shits about the PSI rule until the colts or whoever decided to whine about it. This remains a non-story. How can you all care so much about the PSI in a football, when in reality it makes little to no difference and in reality the refs didn't give a damn either.

'Sup.

while the legal experts had already said that in a civil trial the language of the report was enough to get a guilty verdict, from the analysis of the letter sent to Brady by the league it seems he was hit hard for non-compliance with the investigation above all else and the team got hit with both repeat offender and non-compliance.

This is spot on. As a team you don't offer cooperation, then have one of your guys not cooperate. Goodell is a narcissist, and if he wants to, wields a bigger hammer than Brady. Goodell called Brady. I bet if he cooperated and mitigated instead of going silent and defending it would have been swept under the rug. "Others were doing it too, look at the 3-4 balls... Other games..."

Oh hey, look at this.

http://deadspin.com/roger-goodell-is-a-shit-eating-moron-1703762629

Now you know. Now you know that, in Roger Goodell’s batshit crazy universe, the greatest crime of all is defying authority. Tom Brady just got locked in the attic for four games this fall, and it wasn’t REALLY because he dicked around with the ball (a crime that, as already noted in many other places, has been met with a relative slap on the wrist elsewhere), but because—and here I will use the wording of the letter Troy Vincent had dictated to him by Goodell—the Patriots QB “failed to cooperate fully with the investigation.”

edit: I found this article googling "goodell" to make sure I didn't misspelt his name, 'cause reasons.

Well, duh.

And this "batshit crazy universe" is called "the history of anyone who was ever given power over anyone else for a sufficient length of time."

I guess Brady thought that he was too much of a big-shot NFL star to have to say that he was sorry in front of Daddy Goodell?

How is that working out for him?

STFU you whiners, Brady refused to give up his cell phone so guilty as charged. Here's a tissue for Pat fans, wah wah wah. Cheatriots got served: bye bye 1st round pick, 1 million, and a very possible 1-3 record to start the season. Not to mention the tarnished legacy. Just asterisk every win since 2007 due to ball tampering and every win from spygate. How many more times does the NFL need to smack Kraft, Belicheat, and Brady down?

What a ridiculous suspension, in what other sport do they allow the teams to take control of the environment the balls are in during the game. The NFL was asking for this, they should have owned up to their stupidity in allowing teams to take full control in the environment they are in after its been certified by the officials.

well, let's not forget that it was the Brady and Manning team that lobbied the NFL to update this rule to their standards several years ago...to give the teams control of the balls.

...for reasons.

Hahah that's perfect, that Pats deserve a medal. They are the most American team you're going to get, just win baby.
