Tomorrow work is gonna be Hell

Well tomorrow my day at work is going to be a living hell. Those of you from Michigan probably know that tomorrow is the City of Berkley Car Parade; in which they shut down 12 Mile Road and a good 100,000+ people come down to enjoy the parade. So, why does this suck for me why you ask? Well, I work on 12 Mile and everyone goes to any open restaurant for food, and well I work at one of the more popular ones... as a Dishwasher (not exactly the best job, but it's a job).

Sigh... I won't be getting out of work until like 4 in the morning...

Possibly, it really depends on how busy it still is when we go to close (midnight). I start work at 4pm; they start shutting down 12 mile at 5pm I believe.

Maybe 2 hours of OT max. I forgot how OT works though, cause I normally never get it. I think you have exceed 40 hours per week to get it :| not sure.

That is not how OT works

Yes it is, depending on the state, and Michigan appears to be one of those states.

You must accrue over 40 hours in a work week before any overtime is available. So his employer could work him to the bone as long as he doesn't work more than 40 hours in a work week.

Well, it's either a) greater than 40 hours per week to get overtime or b) greater than 8 hours per day. I'm pretty sure it's "a" for michigan.

Sadly, I won't meet the requirement even if I work 10 hours tomorrow and 8 hours Saturday; I'd still be an hour short(would put me right on 40 hours) and on an average week I'm usually32-38 hours per week.

Awesome! Well, not for you, but awesome as in you work there...which restaurant is it? I've probably eaten there before. I'll be back in MI this weekend on Saturday (I only get to catch the tail end of the dream cruise ), I'm so excited!

eh, nvm, realized its saturday. but the cruiser won't go away for a another week or two after.

Most of us have been there. Just show a little perseverance. I actually learned a lot in one of "those" jobs when I first entered the force.

getting to work is the easy part because it isn't closed off yet. Getting out is the hard part cause you gotta take the side streets until you get to woodward ave. really.

Right now, I'm the second guy with the most seniorty with dishwashing only one other has been there longer than me. I don't have nothing on one of the waitresses and bus guy's though.
